Best way to take credit card payments on clients website

Hey everyone,

I have a client who basically wants to set up a signup form where people pay for entry into an event. I was thinking of setting up a paypal purchase button, with a redirect afterwards to a sign up form. But client also wants people to be able to pay with credit cards.

Can a standard free paypal plugin accomplish this? Are customers able to pay through paypal without having an account?

My client also has a merchant account through US Bank, is there a better route to go with this information?

I would recommend offering both a Paypal account and a merchant account that accepts all major credit cards. I've learned through experience that some local customers don't like using Paypal and would prefer paying through a US bank gateway.

Is there going to be a recurring payment, or just a 1-time fee?
