I'm a doctor so I am better than you????

I Passed the bar so I'm better than you????

I have a degree in Physics, Biology, History, or Philosophy .....so I'm ...... better than you?????

A high school diploma or not ,...? see how did Thomas Edison do in high school. google it.
He did OK.

We know! but just a reminder :

Associate Degree = you "associated" with a particular academic area.

Bachelors Degree = you were schooled in a general area (a batch) of knowledge
(engineering, education, psychology, biology, etc..)

Masters Degree = You mastered a specific "niche" of that Batch
(electrical engineering, secondary education, organizational education, and "tumor biology" ... available at Georgetown University)

DOCTORATE DEGREE = from the standard definitions : 1 of the highest degrees you can get! [Source : http://dictionary.reference.com]
Is that it!???

By that standard I can get a mail order degree with 50 bucks online.

I submit : It means the level at which WE are able to take "knowledge" and apply it ( doctor it) to the real world and get cause and effect results.

If you can get on the phone & create results. you earned your degree!
you are at a doctorate level.

can you show results : well yeah !... sales, money, clients

We respect doctors, atty's, and biologists...but WE don't care about your title's and social status.

We make things happen 1st, and you don't. you are after the fact.

cold calling creates.
is makes stuff happen

we are PHD's of Marketing, Sales, and the Internet.

now shut up, say "ahhhhh", and cough so I can try to fix your business ills!

IMO

it could be just me, I could be wrong.

    I am completely lost.

95% of IM'ers have great relationships with clients who also advertise offline and with other people. Stop missing out on that cash and leverage into it. PM me if you are an established marketer and want to find out how.

    • are you in sales?

do you market , distribute, and sell to Business?

      you have earned a degree.

OR are you sitting in a classromm learning about Business, Marketing, Distribution, or Sales?

      then you are a student.

      do you have kids?

you have a doctorate degree in child rearing
your not a student sitting in a child development class.

      Also,

      I don't know you.

That is the real key. If you can get them out of the gate with the title, you are well along with the finish. Looking for great tag lines as well. Thanks Kirby,

I think Kriby's point is that sometimes people with degrees look down on others who don't have a degree and assume that because you are "less educated" in their point of view, that you can't or won't be able to help them with their businesses.

And unfortunately when you cold call someone sometimes you have to deal with or overcome that person's perception about the kind of people who cold call.

That is no different than a car salesman. Most people already have pre-conceived notions of what they are like. It is something car salesman have to deal with.

      Same with cold callers.

And what these business people with degrees miss out on is that just because you are cold calling them or just because you don't have a degree from a university like them, doesn't mean that you can't help them improve their business by spectacular amounts.

There are many talented, skilled, and highly knowledgable warriors on this forum who could double, triple, or even quadruple a businesses revenue.

And this skill doesn't rely on the fact that they have a degree.

You'll only get better at doing "content" by doing more of it... keep practicing and growth will follow... you'll get better.

It's funny that you posted this.

When I first started IM there was a period when I was out of work. I had an emergency fund built up and I had cash coming in from Real Estate investments so I was in no trouble at all financially.

But I had this Aunt who has her Masters Degree. And she was constantly badgering me to "get a real job" and to "go back to school and earn an degree."

She kept saying over and over again, "if you love marketing so much sign up for a 4 year course at the university and in 4 years you will have a degree and know enough to get a good paying job."

Now I do realize that yes having a degree is important for many professions, but in the end she just didn't get what I was trying to do.

If I followed her advice I would still be in school not making the amount of money I am making now, lol.

"Post Doctoral" is research you do after your a professor... not a degree.

But I fully agree with you. I have a Chemistry and a Marketing BS, and a MBA and I've never really used any of them... what little I did (chemistry) I learned on the job, not the classroom.

Life is the best classroom! I've been full time in IM for 4 years this coming December and I owe that to no one but you great gals and guys oh and my persistance.

If anything... universities are scarred of the Internet.

    Jay

PS sorry for being an Internet troll in my first statement.
