Bump on that idea. People who do that sort of stuff are not on the level, and you need to file a report with the police. In addition to the threats (against the law) they were also trespassing (also against the law) and you are within your rights to press charges. I'd then go with the press release. I'm sure a local news reporter would love to publish a juicy tidbit like that.

I compelety agree with Nathan.
You should file a report for harrassment, make sure to tell the officers you feel threatened.
First, threating emails, then them shwoing up at your home.

You will get a restraining order, and they could face assualt and battery charges.
They are verbally threatening to do physical harm to you, you think that the next step is they will act on their threats.

Call the freakin cops! Have the press there when they show up, and send the media a copy of the report. Expose the *******s... or PM me the area you are in... I will build a directory just to f with these guys. Then give the site to you after I have had my fun...

I love it, lol. OR, give us the directory name... most directory scripts have so many flaws and prone to injections that it's crazy easy to do naughty things to it. STILL best bet is call the cops and deal with it legally lol.

How do we know this actually happened to you or if you are just feeding us this story in the hopes that someone on this list would go to their site and screw around with it.

Get a camera and record it. Even get their voices and threats on recording in case they do it again, LOL. Perfect evidence, and they'll be sure to lose some customers and they'll be running to you. ;D

Like it's already been said, call the law.

In Florida, what they have done is a class 3 felony, and getting arrested can really create financial and personal headaches for the people. Better than anything you could do to 'get back at them'.

1- Cops Call today- File a report and next time - don't even answer the door call 911
2- follow thru and get more clients but do #1 first

Ok so I definitely needed to see part 1 of this story because part 2 doesn't make any rational sense to me.

You built a directory site, not 1 business owner but 2 called you up and told you to shut down the site? THEN they stopped by your home?

This sounds a bit outlandish to me no offense. Unless you live in Texas then maybe it makes a bit of sense lol. I don't carry guns in my home but I do carry bear mace and thats exactly what I would have done if these 2 assholes knocked on my door. First you open the door, then you immediately start screaming "NOO PLEASE DON'T!! STOP IT!!! WHY ARE YOU ATTACKIN ME!!!!!" Make sure you scream it loud enough for neighbors to hear. Also be sure to pitch your vocals up a few octaves just so it sounds more natural.

Then step 2, take out the mace, spray both of them right between the eyes. As they are crawling around the ground blind, punch yourself in the face, then call the cops. Tell them they physically assaulted you. They'll both deny it frantically which will make them look that much more guilty. By this time your neighbors will be outside, cops will question them, they'll verify they heard you screaming. Not only will both of them lose their business, they'll lose their freedom too.

Just keep that in mind encase they ever feel like coming back. =]

Cory, It's call terrorist threatening and is a felony both in the US and Canada so I would not hesitate to call the RCMP. The local news station would eat up something like that as well and that could be some publicity but be careful there as business owners don't want to get in the middle of a conflict. Not good for business. I agree with the other posts that you need to document all that goes on. You will probably need it. Be sure you do the right thing though don't get all pissed and get into a physical thing or you could be in just as much hot water. Follow the right path and you'll be the winner and they will be sucking up your dust... Your a warrior man!!

The point of my thread was to followup on my first one, and to make it aware that these things DO happen. When competitors feel threatened, this is what it can result to. Business should be just business but something to some people it isn't. So i wanted others to know that this kind of thing can happen, and the tips everyone mentioned, may help someone else in my position one day.

Thats the reason for my post, not for a post count increase.

Dude... if you were REALLY threatened, you would have called the cops. It was your HOME.

It's not a matter of helping out other people in this situation. I've been in this REAL situation before, and you need to call the cops if it's that serious.

I know I can't decide what gets deleted and what doesn't, but if this is slander and defamation, the real victims should be able to gather their proof.
