Offline Business Builder Series: ""Playtime is over. Start Making Money In Your Offline Business!"

Hey Offliners,

Even though I was just a kid, I remember it like it was yesterday.

My usually reserved parents were super excited. Dad was gabbing at mom non-stop and my mom was nodding her head in agreement and hanging on his every word.

It was like Christmas...but for grownups.

My brothers, sister and I were a little dazed and confused about what was going on.

After what seemed like an eternity of us straining to hear and understand what was happening, we had our first clue.

Unfortunately, it would take me the next twenty years to fully comprehend what that clue really meant.

As usual, it was my dad who spilled the beans.

He said, "Honey, this year we made so much money that this year we actually have to pay some back!"

Now, in my eleven year old mind, that was a terrible thing.

Give money back. That stinks.

See, they'd just gotten their income taxes filed and even with the tax credits for having five kids and all the deductions they could muster up, they owed money back to the IRS that year.

So, why in the world were they happy about it?

Well, it had to do with their mindset. When you're dirt poor and you finally start making money, it's a big deal.

And back then, you know you'd arrived when you had to pay money back because you made so much that your tax filings from last year was now outdated.

Now, these days they're not excited one iota to owe a penny and in fact work with their tax guy year round to avoid this.

But, that first time was priceless because it's when the light bulb went off and they turned the corner.

See, they'd finally made the shift and changed their mindset.

They stopped getting caught up in the annual bragfest about how big their refund checks were.

Instead, they begin to focus on making so much money that they needed to meet with their accountant several times a year to make adjustment so they wouldn't get a refund (or owe anything at tax time from that point forward).

And I suspect that many offline marketers need a mindset shift too.

A shift away from the "it's Christmas everyday on the forum" to the "focus on one-way to actually make money and build on that" mindset.

But it's gonna be hard.

Consider this. In just the past 12 months, I've seen...

...10 keyword research tools that all promise to find keywords no other tool can find.

...23 lead gen wso's that swear that they can generate all of the leads that you'll ever need.

...36 wordpress themes that will guarantee they'll make your offline clients swoon in glee.

...14 mobile marketing products that will finally allow you dip your bucket into the endless stream of billions of dollars that are flowing in the mobile market.

...close to 50 wso's that will teach you the secrets about offline marketing that even Alan Weiss doesn't know.

And you know what.

With rare exception, all the products can be life-changing and allow you to prosper in your offline business...IF you actually apply any one of them to their fullest potential.

I know it's hard to do with so many awesome products and systems coming out all the time, but it's getting serious now.

Stop jumping around and simply find your one way to make money from offline marketing.

Hope this helps,

Chris

That was a great post! And it is exactly what I do! I only specialize in one area of internet marketing and that is what separates me from my competition! Good post that all people should follow.

I personally think that many people fail because they try to do everything and don't just choose ONE area to specialize in. I am not against expanding after you start getting business but when your just starting out choose one.
