OK, blame it on Penguin but I have a a problem in October.

I purchased a bunch of bestxxxcity.com last year but somehow never had time to get them online.

They will expire in October so the question is...

should I renew them or not??

After penguin, can some still rank those domains "easy"?

They was for a site lease project.

Thanks for your input

Hello fellow Brazilian! Gonna answer in English in respect to everyone else in the forum.

Man, do you think you ever will do anything with them? I mean, you already kept them for a while and didn't get the chance to develop... Maybe you will do the same and end up losing a little more?

If you feel like it's a really good project, outsource the making of the websites and get them going, but, if you renew just because you might do something someday... It's gonna hold you back a little, you know what I mean? You feel like "oh man, I should do this" and feel guilty and all.

Summing up (wow I wrote more than I should, I guess!): Do you see yourself taking project into action soon? Keep 'em. Don't see it happening? Let it go and invest your money/time into something else!

    Abraço!

domains are assets that have value over time

so they are already a year old.. then they will be 2 years.. put some content on them specific to niche and let them build over time

then when you start your other projects

you will already have a small network of sites that can backlink back to your projects

    Skunkworks: noun. informal.

In my opinion, you should renew them. But also, you must work hard on each of your projects.

You should renew them if you think they are golden keyword domains.

It happened to two of my domains; I did not renew them but what i did is that got into contact with potential buyers saying I want to let it go.. care to buy?

One got sold at a price I presume I wouldn't have got by simply monetizing them. The other one renewed and still here.. climbing up the ranks slowly.. will check in 2 years when its time to renew them again

The aim of marketing is to make selling superfluous. The aim of marketing is to know and understand the customer so well that the product or service fits him and sells itself.....

Aged domains are money in the bank.
If you've had a positive experience with bestxxxcity, its only a matter of time until you will be able to develop them or resell them. Meanwhile, age matters when the big G scores the sites.
Have domains 10 years old that I feel would not rank at all were it not for their age.

If you're not going to do anything with them then let them go. If they are "valuable" just as domains then you could try to sell them.

But don't just renew them if they're going to sit in your account another year and you're not going to do anything with them.

It is so easy to catch an idea and start registering a bunch of domains only to find out there is not time to really work on them and that nobody else is prepared to buy your super-idea-domains. So you finally end up deleting them. Just like buying WSOs sometimes - often being afraid to miss something important.

I'm actually waiting on $700 to be released from escrow.com for 2 domains that I sold that were set to expire next month, 9/9/12.

I initially bought them 2 yrs ago with the intention of putting adsense on them but never really got around to it until about 3 weeks ago. The results were very lackluster to say the least.

I got the idea to try and sell these before the expiration hit. I followed a wild hunch and sent a nice professional, short email on a Saturday to a very targeted prospect and by the next day, Sunday I got an email back asking "how much?". I couldn't believe it.

Funny thing is the buyer never even visited my websites to check my credentials. My Statcounter.com analytics showed not once did this guy even visit either one of the domains to check out if a site was developed.

In all fairness, I guess it was because the specific way in which I represented the deal AND I only presented him with an offer to buy both domain names only and not any ranked website, which were both an ideal fit for the product that he sells nationwide through Walgreens pharmacy.

I'm counting the days until escrow.com releases those funds. It will be the easiest money I've ever made

I say take action and get those bad boys online. What's holding you back? With just a little SEO work you'll probably be able to get them ranked making them a valuable asset..... obviously it's a little harder now but a little effort goes a long way.

Forgot to mention. There are two sites that will give you a fairly good estimate of how much your domains might be worth: estibot.com and valuate.com

I have always believed domains are an asset, the issue is if you do not have time to develop them. I kept "collecting" domains like a hoarder, but then when my renewal costs came up, my wallet told me to clean house.

I know they are cheap, but I had close to 200 domains. (At $10 a domain, renewal costs where about $2000 a year.)

To me domains are like property, but when the tax man calls, it is not fun....

      Cheers!

Renew them. My first thought was call some competing businesses and ask them if they want to buy them.. Since their isnt content the gem should be the keyword rich URL..

depends if you actually plan to sell/develop them in the next year or just want to hoard on to them?
