Simple hook to open a lot of doors

Fellow Warriors,

Few months ago there was some really bad time in my life. I had family problems and I was out of business for some time. After family stuff worked out I had to find out fast way to go back to business. Here's what I've done in less than 2 months to get $10,994 from new clients.

1. I typed in Google e.g. "restaurant portland" and looked at all Google Places listings from page one. I checked which one was NOT verified by owner.

2. I contacted all of them via email. Very personal (owners name, some information about their business) message similar to this: "You are on first page of Google for restaurant portland. You may getting some customers thanks to that. But you didn't verified it and optimized. This could mean that you'll loose all that business and your competitor will get it. I can show you how to change it. Or better yet I'll do this for you. For just few bucks."

3. Few emails later most of them would like to pay $50-$97 for this.

4. Job done, they are happy. I'm doing some consulting. Selling them other stuff.

This is great for start. You don't have to cold call or spam. You are just telling them "Man, light bulb in your car is burned. You should go there and there to change it or I can do this for you." Would you hate somebody for that or thank him?

I hope this will help few of you. If you have any questions please write below and I will try to help you guys as much as I can.

P.S. If you like the post or idea please hit thanks button, I appreciate it!

Done! Simple but effective, good share.
Sorry to hear about the issues you were experiencing but it sounds like you got right back on your feet. *clap clap* We are all proud of you!

Have you managed to turn any of them into recurring clients?

    HostWind thanks for that.

Yes, most of them are recurring. I'm meeting with them and using questionnaire to find leaks. Of course I know leaks before meeting and know what questions to ask.

Thanks for the great post, i really must pay more attention to the places listings as only this week whilst carrying out some research there are still loads of local biz's that still have not claimed their listings.

Certainly as easy in to break the ice.

Glad your back on your feet and moving forward

It just much better to be straight to the point and let the business owners know what you can do for them and how you can help them instead of focusing on yourself.

Not to be like, critical of your email - but did you intend for the bad grammar and spelling? I mean is that the exact thing you sent?

I was going to say the same thing. My guess is this is just a quick dramatization of what was originally sent (at least I hope it is, anyway).

somacorellc this is not exact message that I'm sending. I think I was writing this topic too fast that's why looks pretty bad. As you can see English is not my mother tongue. Next time I will write better English. Sorry guys.

You found leaks in me without questionnaire

Good stuff tho. I figured English wasn't your native tongue, so no worries brother.

True that might be a good foot in the door for you but I'm not sure I would offer an optimized Google Plus Local page for that little $$$...... Maybe just to "claim" it for them.. All in how your process is for upselling though.... Always easy to lead in with a cheap service. Once they are buyers, you're golden!

How are you checking to see if they have verified or not their listing?

Are you only going after ones on page 1 A-G or do you go after ones on page 2 and back?

How are you obtaining emails of these places? How many did you send and what was your conversion rate? Any particular subject line you used to get better response?

He did say a few months ago, so back then you could still see if a site was verified. Not so much, anymore.

But I know that Places Scout is able to check that again even after the Google+ Local update. If the software can do it automatically then we should be able to check it manually as well.

Anyone have insights on how doing this?

Yep it was few months ago when this was easy. I suppose you can send emails even if you don't know if they verified their listing. Change message a bit and they will tell you that they verified or not.

Page 1 is the easiest because they are already there.
Most of them had email in listing or on their site. Conversions varied from city to city. Subject line too.

So would you target those in the bottom spots in the E-G spots on page 1 that are not verified and get them verified/optimized so that they can move up to the "A" spot? Or as long as they are not in "A" spot any business is fair game as long as they are not yet verified?

What about in cases where their listing is not verified, but still occupy the "A". Would you even get in contact with these businesses?

Overall roughly how many emails did you send out, how many responded, and from those how many were you able to close? How many businesses did you do this for that generated the $10K in revenue?

Can you give an example of a subject line that you used?

The aim of marketing is to make selling superfluous. The aim of marketing is to know and understand the customer so well that the product or service fits him and sells itself.....
