Just saw a thread about this but what actually is it and how does it work?

I know its direct mailing but what sort of letters do you send?

Who is Gary?

Thanks
Tom.

I send different types of letters. Some are just a 2 page mailer and some
may have a letter + an insert of some kind (coupon, fact sheet, guarantee, etc)

I am not sure which thread is the one you are referring to but Gary is Gary Halbert. He is the greatest copywriter of all times before the Internet had so much power as today.

He died 5 years ago, at the age of 69. This will help you get the point :

    The Gary Halbert Letter

You can send flyers, offers, letters etc directly to people homes. It is a good method but could be quite expensive (buying the list, method of delivery). You should be absolutely sure what you are going to do otherwise you can go broke.

Alright cheers, Gary seems like a bit of a legend!

But direct marketing is basically just sending letters out to people with your message and business information in and then hope they contact you?

Or you can follow up by calling like a week later saying did you get my letteR?

Follow-up is everything when doing B2B marketing. I like to mention
in the letter I will be giving them a call in a couple days.
