Question for those that create demo sites (templates)

I never got to understanding this point, hope I could get some clarification on this.

For those that create demo sites hosted on a subdomain and target a certain niche, let's say Doctors. Let's assume you've closed 3 sales with 3 different doctors. Wouldn't you ever be worried about the possibility of the 3 doctors (they are probably of the same area too) coming across each other's site and saw they look similar?

If they ever question "this isn't original work", "didn't you say this was for me" blah blah, how would you reply, and wouldn't it affect your business when word spreads around on not being original work etc?

That's pretty easy - if you're building them in Wirdpress, just use different themes.
I also say "You can have a website just like this one for $xxxxx, or I can build you a custom one for $xxxxx

For mobile sites you can't get them different in layout, as you only have a small canvas, but the images make them unrecogniseable as being the same.

Unless you're talking mobile, I only use demo sites to illustrate niche specific solutions that I can provide for the prospect. (ex. Menus for restaurants, appointments for dentist, etc.) For mobile, I only have a few different templates that i roll with so I know for a fact that I've had two competitors under the same theme. No one ever noticed. But I think mobile is different. The screen is so small that just a few changes to colors and logo can produce a completely different look.

Generally Make changes in Themes for every single website It will not affect a lot in case of demo sites.

It'll be for websites, not mobile.

Thing is, this template will be shown to a number of prospects. I can't setup X number of themes for every X number of prospects, that'll a killer.

Wouldn't your line about "build you a custom one for xx" basically tell them that it's not original and probably being used multiple times?

I've had prospects showing so much emphasis on originality that i'd find it hard to give them a template.

Most Wordpress themes these days are infinitely customisable.
For instance, here is my demo site for dentists: poiseandelegance.com
(Don't worry about the title, it's just a spare domain I use for testing)

Because it's widget based, I can delete the video, any one of those pictures, add others (they're just widgets), change the colours, put the bottom images to the top, whatever.

And of course I can add stuff other than widgets, like body text.

By the time I do all that, and change the header, it will be unrecogniseable from the demo template.

And don't forget, if you are still worried about originality, you can always go back to a good old dashioned HTML site, which I do sometimes when I'm bored with how easy Wordpress is.

          That'll be completely unique.
