Flyer Handouts vs. Cold Calls?

I made a basic flyer with 4 packages I can offer to local businesses based on their needs. I thought about having my wife go into the businesses, hand out flyers, and set appointments for anyone interested. Has anyone has any luck with this compared to cold-calling?

Did you ask your wife to marry you the first time you met Don't try to sell "packages" with a flyer... sell the appointment or use a flyer to get them to call you... or offer something for free to get a response.

If she is going into businesses just have her try to set appointments while you are cold calling trying to do the same.

Just take action you'll figure out the rest along the way

      Well said Jay!

Get the meeting, IMHO, you'll have very poor results dropping something off for the owner to look at later - think "junk mail".

      All success,

Best advice. If you take action, you'll do some things right, some wrong, you'll figure it out along the way. But, the important thing is that you will get the things moving .

Also, i wouldn't go with flyers, because they don't seem professional these days. I have a feeling that only low-level (but really low level) companies use it as a form of promotion.

Thanks for the suggestion, maybe appointment setting would just be a better way for her to help me. She has 4-5 hours a day free in the mornings and want's to support me and my business, which I can definitely appreciate.

As people here know I am a big fan of cold walking.
    1. It's different. So few do it.
    2. Big companies like utilities and such are the ones who do it so they associate you with larger companies.

But is your wife ready to sell? Yes you may be sending her in to appointment set but what if they are ready to buy? You have to think about these things and be prepared.

Dropping off a flyer? Not gonna do it as others pointed out. But she needs flyers to hand out for those who want more info.

Get out there and do and test and tweak till you get it right.

She is very knowledgeable about what I do for a living, I even set her up with her own Wordpress sites a few months ago that she manages herself now and I am teaching her the basics of design/seo so she can be knowledgeable when she goes into make appointments for me.

I am going to be doing cold walk-ins myself as well, just at different times and places.

Josh given that I think this is a no brainer.

Go for it. You and her will both be cold walking and you will both get better at it as you go.

Some will want you to leave.
Some will want appointments to learn more.
Some may buy on the spot.

It sounds like she is ready to represent your company. The only thing left to figure out is how to pay her.

Keep us updated on your success.
