Google Places When Multiple Businesses at Same Location
I'm trying to get the business to rank high in search results & not risk the page getting merged into one Places page for that address shared across multiple businesses.
Here's the story.
A current client is a major tenant in a large regional shopping mall. Every business in the mall uses the exact same street address. Gap, Macy's, Kohls, lots of other businesses big, medium, small.
SEO best practices say you MUST have a unique address in your google places listing. Having multiple businesses at the same address puts you at risk of being merged into a single listing.
Another tip is to absolutely NOT have any categories duplicated for the businesses having places pages that use the same address. That's unworkable because a mall has multiple restaurants, jewelry stores, etc.
Some businesses have their own websites, some do not. The ones that do show the address my client uses. There's no changing that.
I'd love to hear any stories, tips, techniques for when there absolutely has to be multiple businesses sharing the exact same address & how to rank better. Thanks in advance.
