Need Help with Content Creation!

Hello all!

I have quite a warm lead off of Craigslist and had a great phone interview with them this evening. I am looking to build them a website from complete scratch as they have no web presence what so ever. Nothing too complicated, and luckily the business is one that I am very familiar with.

My question is for those who have done content creation in the past, do you have a list of questions that you ask your clients or maybe a questionaire you have them fill out that will help get the content "ball" rolling?

I'm looking for any and all ideas so thank you in advanced!

Go to an article site like ezinearticles. I pull up and read 3 or 4 articles talking aboout the same thing and then write my own article that becomes original content.

Get them to call their customers and ask for testimonials.

Take Pics of staff and a write up about key employees.

Ask them to take videos of their product or service in action

Business earned any awards, What is the company philosophy, any special liciencing held, any ways they give back to community, business ever been on TV or in local paper

are they a green business peoply luv environment friendly stuff

All I can think of for now good luck

Here's how we start out with a new client:
    1. Business description; Founded when?; Owners, principals.
    2. Type of business: Walk-in; On Call?
    3. Products? Services?
    4. Markets served? Institutional, Industrial, Commercial, Residential, Individuals
    5. Products & Affiliations: Distributor, Dealer, or Agent for?
    6. Services: Licensed, Bonded, Insured?
    7. Geographical Areas served?
    8. Employees: Number; Training; Skills?
    9. Special Tools or equipment. Truck fleet?
    10. Marketing: Present Advertising; Brochures; Handouts; Flyers; Yellow Pages; Trade Shows?
    11. Memberships: BBB; C of C; other?
    12. Testimonials?
    13. Competitors? (A source for content ideas)
    14. Social Network activity?

After that, two things: Ask him to show you a couple of websites he really likes and what he likes about them.

Then, ask him to describe his business in ten words or less (Maybe that becomes your tag line.)

Good luck, and let us know how it works out.
