Best resource for learning AdWords and PPC?

Hey guys,

What's the best resources you know about to learn about successfully using PPC and specifically AdWords? I'm not in the US so I can't get accepted to Google Engage.

Thanks,
Carl

I'm launching a new site in the next few days to train specifically for offline ppc. (I was planning the launch for tomorrow but am still finishing up the initial content. Clients have been coming out of the wood works lately for some reason. Not that I'm complaining. ) Mainly adwords. Feel free to check out the free pre-launch videos. www.ppclocaldomination.com There is one up now and the second going up in just a little bit. Also, I have a thread on here about basic questions that you may have.

Isn't the best way to learn Adword just to get stuck in?

Learn a few of the basics and setup a campaign with a small budget and get familiar with process of creating ads, selecting keywords, testing ads etc..

At least that's how I learned.

You can learn the basics that way for sure. That's how I did it. But, having someone there to help you is key these days. When I learned it all the hard way it was cheap clicks galore. I was paying .25 cents per click for the real expensive stuff. Most of it was less than .10 cents. Now you are paying several dollars for most clicks. Only way to get it cheap is the display network if you are using adwords.

The competition is pretty steep. That's why I say learning from the experience of others is really beneficial.

    Hi,
Organizing a successful Pay Per Click campaign isn't always simple. You should understand PPC and how to best optimize your PPC marketing campaigns.
Indeed, you can try to get the AdWords Performance Grader to get a free, instant report on your AdWords account and see how your PPC metrics stack up against advertisers with similar accounts.
I see many people find it useful...

Also, hope this might help you!

Well how i learned mine was participating in different forums that discuss ppc and adwords specifically. So your best bet is research and forum discussion.

You can learn quite a bit doing it that way. But, like anything else don't believe everything you see just because it's on the internet. There is quite a lot of bad info out there.

Get hold of Perry Marshall's latest guide to Google Adwords - it's available on his website or from Amazon.

There's an e-book by Oliver Bowen that I found very helpful too - AdwordsSuccess

Ultimately, though, you can only really learn by taking the plunge and running some campaigns - and being prepared to lose some money as part of your education.

I don't think you should be risking your clients' money with Adwords campaigns until you've had some experience with risking your own. Nothing focuses the mind faster than watching your credit card get hammered by Google.

If you can keep your nerve and come out the other end having learned a thing or two, then you are ready to start looking for clients.

            I totally agree...

The best way to learn is to put down some money and have measurable results to analyze and improve on. It's the only way really.

Yes. I go through step by step and show you how to find clients. I've also included sample contracts, NDA, and I'm working on getting the sales pitch I use up there as well.

Even though there are lots of information on the internet that might not be useful, its still better to learn internet marketing participating in forums and blog discussions.
