How People Who Work Online Get A Social Life

Hi! I have been working online for three years now. If you do work online, you probably know how things are. I am a loner type of person though I have some sanguine personality hidden inside my body. But, most of the time, I feel like I'm better off alone. I do hang around with friends if they're available. These days, I feel like being at home most of the time starts to overwhelm me. I feel like I need to get my social life going.

To others out there, how do you guys get your social life going while working from home online?

You are not alone mate. All internet marketers feel the same way. The trick is to find some really understanding friends that love you and organise to see them once a week. Just go out for coffee of lunch with them

This is really simple... leave your house.
Just because you do marketing online from your home doesn't mean you have to always be doing the marketing whne you are at home.
    Setup a timeframe.
Call it quits at the end of the day... Make an end to the day.
    Enjoy your weekends.
Don't worry the internet will still be there Monday morning.

Don't turn pale, grow some crazy beard, and live in your basement.
You only live once, so go enjoy life.

I personally enjoy being stuck in the house. I do hair, fix computers, and of course IM. My husband fixes cars. So between the both of us, family alone keeps us busy with requests for things, if we added friends in there we would never have time to get anything done.

My daughter used to get on me about not socializing enough, but now that she has had a few experiences of her own, she is seeing my reasoning behind my actions.

Not sure what you mean. You really think that people who work online do nothing but sit in front of the computer all day? I work 3-4 hours a day! In fact, I have so much free time on my hands I might actually go to college

Gotta get the balance. I'd go mad if I sat in front of my computer all day.
It's healthy to get out and take a break from work.

Most of the guys I know who are online/offline marketers came from the attraction seduction community - so I see them have a hellacious social life.

Make sure to not get out of the house every once in awhile, make it a daily thing. two hours in the afternoon or whatever - go hit a night spot; but its just healthier to get out no matter what. You will also feel 10x charged up for doing so.

This is actually a big danger for internet marketers, as it is real easy to find a way to become a hermit somewhere in bratislava and just sit in your hovel all day long. It will shrivel your creative side, and lead to all your success kind of becoming a stale thing without any fun.

Most people who are asking about "how do you socialize" are really in a stagnant area whether they hand out with friends or stay at home. You close friends are great, but you might be in need of new stimulation - meeting new people. Many times, relying on your established circle can be the exact opposite of this, or at least feel like it. Go out solo, and "crash" into people. That is probably what you are really missing, hence the need to ask about it.

As a business guy, you probably need to kind of schedule it, and also learn how to change states from "all day serious" to "Hey let's dance". Waiting around for that to appear out of nowhere is a pipe dream or at least rare. So this is actually spot on topic with doing business as an offliner - without your social side getting fed, its not good for business.

Don't forget about all the people you could meet through work.. Even though we work online, A LOT of marketing can be done offline. Go to network events, get meetings/lunches, meet colleagues at seminars or conferences and so on...

You are probably right in there. I haven't been meeting new people. I surround myself with the usual people I get to meet and greet. Going out solo and crashing into people seems like an interesting idea. Thanks Gatsby!

Just talk to strangers. Seriously. Just going up to girls (if you're a women, hit the bars I suppose) randomly talking to ones you've never met before will eventually get you on a date. Just like cold calling/internet marketing, it's a numbers game. Exude confidence, don't be an idiot and you're in.

A lot of youtubers (BIG youtubers that have 1 million+ subscribers) actually get paid for the number of views they get and do it full time. However, they have to work HARD to the point of 10-15 hr work days to meet their ends meet. Occasionally you'll see them put out a video ranting on being in front of a computer all day too.

If you're a guy, don't want to use fancy websites, but wants to get some sort of social activity going on - check out "simplepickup" on youtube. I see it for entertainment, and it's pretty cool to just see 3 average "joes" go out and randomly talk to people and girls and get their numbers and have a date that same day.

Does that always happen? Numbers game, baby. Is it something worth doing? Hell yeah.

The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, "you know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

Hello everyone! Thanks for all of the ideas. It's good to know I'm not alone here. Of course, I knew that already, but reading everything you all said in actuality makes me feel better.
