Hello, and welome to the magical world of hosting! (And get ready for the occasional headache or two.)

To get a good bearing on the situation, I recommend checking out some larger and smaller hosting companies' offerings. But keep in mind there's a balance:

No, you don't have to offer "unlimited" or five million gigs of space for $5/mo., but you do want to come in with a value proposition. Even though you're designing your clients' sites and they trust you, they may down the line go "well, I found a much cheaper host so I'm switching." So definitely be competitive!

I'd suggest packing "realistic" packages for your customers.

IE: If you have a 20GB reseller plan, don't try and sell 500 "unlimited" plans, or 20GB plans etc, as you're taking a chance of those plans capping out your resources. If you hit the cap, you won't be able to do anything at all but upgrade.

In another thread you mentioned a HostGator reseller plan. Keep in mind that HostGator reseller plans are based on space/bandwidth "allocated" not "used". If you create 10, 10GB customer accounts, they will treat it as your using 100GB, even if those accounts only use a total of 10MB combined.

I'd also suggest doing a little research "off" of this forum, as a lot more goes into building packages if you want to be successful at it. It's not as simple as just throwing a number out there.. Many people do, but you could find yourself in a bad spot when a few users eat up all of your resources and you're only charging "bargain basement" prices.

EDIT: Also keep in mind of support. Since you're a reseller, YOU provide support directly to your customers, not the parent company; you're just a middle man. If you don't understand the basics of web hosting, I'd suggest not selling these services until you fully understand as you'll end up making a fool of yourself.

Sure, so he'll take his support ticket and submit it to Hostgator himself which has unbelievably good support. Problem solved.

Who said anything about hostgator? Instead of trying to prove something, why not provide the op with the info he's looking for?

Anyone used any of the following:

REsellers Panel - This one seems like a good deal. Although they are promoting that resellers sell unlimited storage and bandwidth plans. I'm not sure about this now after my previous thread.

    Site5

Just looking for the best reseller option now.

Between the two Site5 is the better company IMO.

I haven't used them yet but when I need another hosting account I plan on trying them out. I would trust that hosting services run by Brent (Kingfish85) would be reliable.

And here I thought the OP was looking for pointers on creating some hosting plans, not a new host...
