Hey people,

Just curious what type of stats you guys get from cold calling to see if I'm ANYWHERE on par..

What percentage of leads do you get and what percentage of sales do you get?

I'm only getting about 3 leads per 100 calls... I'm guessing that isn't overly amazing??

    3 leads as in they are interested in buying?

    I think a couple good leads is normal for 100 calls especially since a huge majority the person you want to talk to isn't there etc.

    Yeah these are normal #s for new-to-calling folks.

    You can't compare experienced vs newbie #s ... the game changes.

    Concentrate less on the #s and more on consistent activity (I recommend 2 hours twice a day) and you'll get results faster than you thought possible.

    @Irish Intuition: Right now it is, I've used networking, LinkedIn and direct mail... all with a little bit of success but I'm looking to jump start business fast because of the current situation I'm in.

    @P1: Yeah, people that have said they're interested in a website or to sit down for 15 minutes.

    @kanigan: thanks man, you're always a big help, maybe you guys could take a look at what I got going below and give me some guidance. THANKS!

    Me: Hi there, my name is James Wilder, just curious if you're possibly in the market for a new website?

    If they say yes here, I shoot them over a portfolio and then set a time to follow up with them.

    If they say no, my script continues as follows.

    Me: Does that mean you have a website already?

    Yes/No (doesn't matter their answer)

    Me: Okay great, listen I actually worked with another painting company and in the very first month they generated a lead from their site that turned in a $4,000 contract.

    Now, I'm not saying I guarantee those results, but would being able to generate those types of leads for your business be beneficial to you?

    Yes. (if they say no, I conclude the call)

    Great, what I'd love to do is schedule a time either Monday or Tuesday that we could chat for about 15 minutes and see if it'd be possible to bring that same value to your buisness.

    So, I could either do Monday at 11:30 am or Tuesday at 1 pm, which works better for you.

    And that's pretty much it... I've done zero research on structuring a proper script, my main focus until now was to just get on the phone and make the calls, but now, seeing how time consuming it is, I'd like to start to increase my results with something more effective.

      You were terrible at cold calling so cold calling and scripts don't work?
      Wow... real helpful. A script is the framework from which a cold call is initially based.
      Each call is different so you have to be comfortable enough with it, to modify it to suit the call.

    Carl: let's just say that I use skype so I'm limited to 50 dials a day...and I never need them to get what I want.

        The guy who has dedicated his entire strategy to the mere subject of cold calling dials out through skype, and has a limit of 50 calls per day. LOL
