How Much Would You Pay For A Baby Registry Service?

I think most people prefer going into the different stores (Babies R Us, Walmart, Target, local botique shops) and choosing the items themselves. Those places all offer registries for free and with the changes in items, it is best to see what is in store in real time. Also, it would be hard for someone to supply the access to all those inventories to the couples. In fact, most people can update and even MAKE their registries online for free, complete with printed invitation inserts to mail out.

You're right. But after talking to some people who have been through the process, it turns out that many times it's a big headache for them, especially when it comes to running around different stores, etc. Not only that, but many times when the relatives and friends go shopping, they just go and buy the item without going through the registry. So there is a demand there. I'm just trying to get a feel for how big the demand is and how much they're willing to pay for it. Great point!

I choose $0 to $20 because I might be willing to give someone a few bucks for this service but I don't think I am very likely to when the stores do it for free.

I even thing there are registry combiners that bring all the store lists into one place. Personally I don't see a huge value in registries anyways for the following reasons.

1. A certain percentage will just buy what they want to buy anyways.
2. Those who do follow the registry often just feel it would be easier to give you cash/giftcard since no real thought goes into it. (My budget is $50.... 2 items on the list are $40 to $50.... choose one of the two items....wonder how this gift reflects your friendship with the couple)

And the best part about the registry is you put more effort into it vs. just returning the gifts you don't want. So why bother when you will still get doubles. I think registries increase this risk as people buy from the list but don't update he list to reflect their purchase.

Without a registry here is what will happen.
1. People who know you will buy gifts with meaning. The kind of gifts that will mean fr more than being useful.
2. People who are not sure will buy you practical items (diaper for baby) or cash/ gift cards.
3. You will have to return some items (likely a similar amount as with the registry) and get cash/gift cards
4. You will use cash and gift cards to buy what you want.
Step 3 & 4 likely take as long as building the registries do if not less time.

I chose $0.
My wife would be pissed if I hired someone to do the register for her.
We have three kids. She enjoyed going to register.... not so much me.

You may have a niche for single working moms....but I don't know.
I just can't wrap my head around why someone would hire a consultant.

I chose $50-100. But it will be easy if they do it by themselves. Otherwise hiring a consultant is a good idea. So he can't be paid much than $50 on the maximum.

I was thinking more on this and IMO the only way to get this to work is to target high end clients and charge a load for the service. But not sure you can land enough clients to justify it.

I think middle class and below will have no desire to pay for this kind of service.
