Why You Should Use A Female When Prospecting

Let's face it, typically when prospecting service providers (such as painters, plumbers, electricians, contractors, roofers, and the list goes on...) you're going to run into male owners/decision makers. As a male who owns a lead generation firm, I have found it much easier for my female prospectors to get past the gatekeepers, schedule appointments, and get the owner interested in internet marketing services. Even through my email marketing campaigns!

Has anyone else had experience with this? I'd be really interested to hear from the women. I remember seeing a thread recently in the Offline Section referring to the higher conversion rate with female telemarketers, and honestly it makes sense to me. I'd be much more inclined to talk to a female telemarketer, than a male.

I have never seen that myself. Appears to me the better personality wins.

I will say this though. With all my print medium, i get better response
rates using Jewish names. I get even better results if the name is
    a unisex Jewish name ...

One of the names that pulls the BEST, hands down for years
    is Casey Stein

I have done lots and lots of testing with names over the years.
With business related advertising, jewish names are the winner.

I think there's been a thread on this already.

I am definitely under the notion that having a female telemarketer/seller does makes a difference. Males in general have this sort of 'alpha male' trait when it comes to things, business and politics especially.

There are so many factors though, it's a tough thing to measure and people will have different views.

I found the thread btw: http://www.warriorforum.com/offline-...e-callers.html

Men on average make more in sales, and in the service/hospitality industry. People think women servers or bartenders make more, but they in fact do not, on average.

I think assuming that is very far from the truth.

It depends entirely on the person.

Somehow the top sales people on the planet happen to be men. Getting
past gatekeepers is trivial unless he or she can SELL.

Besides, I'm not sure I believe women gain access because they are
women. Women can be catty to each-other at times so if the 'gate
keeper' is female it could be a disadvantage.

There are many factors involved when selling. Gender is low on the
      importance list, I assure you.

Doesn't matter enough to hire based on the gender of a person. We both make calls all day, and both reach our goals. It's true some people respond better to my voice (and will flirt or call me "darlin'") and some women respond better to his voice (he's very deep, soothing and could read the phone book and make women happy). As for who's on the receiving end, we can both get past gatekeepers, and there's times we both can't...and we've tried. If he calls and can't get through, I'll call later on and have gotten through and failed.

It really all just depends on the call, the caller, the product and the moods/demeanor of all involved.

Not really, i do see some male telemarketer do an excellent job and there is no complain about him from the customers so what wrong. But i think it is depending on the person and most companies would like a female for the telemarketer position.

I don't know about TeleMarketing but...with my first biz (Burglar Alarms sold by walking in "Cold-Turkey" Door-To-Door and asking to see the owner) I hired 2 guys and 3 young ladies who were also selling AVON...so I knew they had some sales training and....sure enough, they outsold the males 2 to 1.

I discovered that with "Face-to-Face" sales....the prettier the "Face" the more RESPECT received and....the tougher it is to say "NO!" to.

This is when I used the "Assumptive Close" method; They get down to the "Time for Price" and....they just ASSUME the prospect is going to buy and....they begin writing up the order.

I'll bet with Phone Sales...females get more "Yesses"! But...with In-Person Sales....there's nothing like having a pretty woman sell your stuff.

  • In my previous life I sold telecom stuff. (thanks for ordering that T1 Google)
We had a girl in our office (and pardon the blutness) she was a BALLER!
Hands down "coffee is for closers" She just knew how to sale, and not pushy either.
    It's a matter of personality.
My current company we have a video model. Very beautiful and I tell you, she gets us in the door. A LOT! But God bless her, she couldn't sell water to fireman at a 5 alarm fire.
