Offline marketers, do you have a IM Blog?

Hey guys, I am trying my hand on offline marketing & as you guys know building a brand and credibility helps a lot.

So I am thinking about starting my own IM blog. However I was wondering should I provide very specific things like how to set up a blog, autoresponder, get subscribers etc.

If I teach them everything why will they pay hundreds of dollar to me for setting up an autoresponder for them or a blog, when they have already read on my blog about how easy it is to put an autoresponder.

Do you guys run a blog and does it helps? \
If you are an offline marketer and run an IM blog I would like to take a look at your blog. It will help me decide better.

My company takes 2 approaches to blogging.

First, we tend to post information about why they need something and how they can use it. This serves as a soft sell for our products or services.

Second, occasionally we do post a tutorial on how to do something that we offer. When we do this, we are betting that the reader lacks the time, motivation, or technical know-how to get the job done.

I finally launched something in the "IM" space (see my sig). As for the rest of my business life, even in the B2B world, I still maintain a major "blogging" effort as a core to our marketing strategy. Combined with "expert positioning" for the various team members in our group, and live speaking engagements, our people are recognized as industry leaders at the very top of the markets we're in.

Yeah I've been thinking of starting up a purely IM blog/site to promote my services while also providing nice content to get visitors.

Guys, my question is how will it help to have an IM blog if you are offering services to offline businesses. Won't they read how to set up a blog or facebook page on my blog & then do it themselves instead of paying for that to me.

I am confused will it help or hurt?

Your business blog should not be focused on IM that should be seperate as far as I'm concerned. Your business blog should focus on things that can help small businesses increase their online presence, tips and even tutorials. Its a different type of viewer reading it.

Your blog should reflect the things of interest to the intended audience. If your target reader is "offline business owners", the blog itself should be writted with that audience in mind.

What would be of interest to your audience?
Why would they read your blog?
What kind of information are you putting on your blog to help them solve some kind or problem or provide them with more information?

    etc...

      Exactly.
Can you point to any blog or offline business owner successfully doing this?

I would say any marketing agency or consultant that provides digital & internet-based marketing services to offline business who also blogs.

Every city has many of them.

        Some good, some bad.

Here's one in Chicago. http://blog.riseinteractive.com/ Pretty successful, multi-million dollar agency.
