Is Video Marketing effective?

I am thinking if a video is an effective way to market a business?
Since it will take time, I am focusing more of entrepreneur audiences.
Any idea?

Any form of marketing can be effective if it can target the proper audience and gets them to act.

Of course certain forms of marketing may target certain groups better.

I myself wouldn't want to use online video marketing to target seniors for example.

It can be effective but you need to promote the video to other websites. You have to increase its "views" count. Make it more popular if you will.

you bet it is, otherwise, what do you think those huge multinational companies spend big $ on commercials for, days in and day out? just for fun?

what you should ask yourself: how much do you know about your target audience? do you know what is their burning desire and killing pains? How your service/product can meet their desire or heal their pain? What i need to come across in my video? and last one: how can i effectively deliver my videos to the target audience, so they will see it.

Just like Aaron said above, any form of marketing can be effective and it depends on how you plan it out

THis is one of the biggest confirmations of almost any question you can ask about video and it's effectiveness:

Video CAN be expensive - but it doesn't have to be. Check out our Discount Video Production Membership, BWEMonthly.com. I created BWEMonthly.com so that marketers and entrepreneurs (experienced and novice alike) could leverage the same marketing power the "Big Boys" have WITHOUT the 'Big Boy" budget starting at under $50 for a professionally produced, 100% custom video production.

The other point is just as important:

Major Corporations, with Major Marketing Budgets, are able to accomplish a BUNCH with their marketing. One of the most used, and effective, tools is the A/B test. This is where a company "tries" different "approaches" to a marketing campaign and chooses to use the one that viewers respond to most. At BWEMonthly.com, we give you a super inexpensive way to "try" marketing ideas and approaches so you can zero in on the one(s) that work. Check us out. We may be just what you need (AND we also have a special offer until October 5th) :-)

I think this is the best answer for you. Take time to know your audience very well and determine the best way they can access your product/service, may it be video, blog, social media, etc. and the list goes on...

Quick and easy promotional videos allow you to get quite a bit of traffic from Google, other search engines and the many social media sites, Fast! And with video you don’t even need a website.

I think these days we have to be careful when we dismiss certain demographics as being unsuitable for video (like age for example)
The fact is that more and more people are learning that 'youtubing' is a much better approach that 'googling' for info.

I know plenty of oldies for example you look for the how to info on youtube.

Yes video is very effective. Its one of the best ways to present yourself as an authority in any marketplace.

But there is a catch to it. You have to make sure your appearance is as high quality as you can afford.

Believe it or not, the quality of your presentation means a lot to people. You could have the most valuable information, but if it is packaged and presented in a way that is not highest quality then people will perceive the information to be that way as well.

I'm not saying you need a hollywood production, but you need something that is at least pleasant to look at that will allow your audience to value the information you have.

Looks and presentation mean a lot more than people think.

Posting a video online to market your product will only help if you make it good enough to be shared. Otherwise, it will just be ignored. To make sure your video is effective, always put yourself in the position of your target market, and ask yourself if your video is worth watching. You can also make your friends watch it first before posting it online so that you’ll have time to correct mistakes.

Well, the video has a lot of advantages, it is easy to promote, create and maintain.

And there are some markets where they are more or less useless... for example:
    - senior citizens (I fully agree with Aaron)
    - people with vision problems
    - people looking for a long and detailed scientific explanations

However videos are easy to promote through social websites, and they are extremely easy to promote through personal recommendations, or in other words word-of-mouth marketing. And that is the greatest power of all if you ask me...

Video marketing can be very effective if you do it correctly. That means producing nice videos and optimizing those videos on Youtube. Keep in mind youtube is the second largest search engine on the internet. So figure out a way you can use that to your advantage in your industry. Also, Google loves videos and ranks them very well so use that to your advantage as well.

You need to create a professional video, otherwise you are wasting your time. Once the video has been created, you need to add your meta tags, and titles and proper descriptions to help rank it better for your desired keywords.

Video ranks much higher in the Google SERPs, so yes, it can be effective, but it has to be done correctly.

Here are a couple examples of good videos used for marketing:

I don't think it's so much the media type but the customer/prospect type that's really important. Once you know who you're going after, then it's easier to pick the media.

For example, if you're gonna eat a steak you probably don't want to use a spoon.

One tip for access to high end video equipment/studio access and even free help is many cities have their own TV studio for producing city council broadcasts etc on local public access TV channels. They usually have deals w/ cable/satellite networks to have such a channel.

My city even offers free use of the studio and equipment to residents of the city. They include free training. I suspect most cities are similar. What a great cheap way to produce high end video. Go to your city website and inquire, my city even advertises it on their site and gives you the communications contact name/number/email to get you set up.

    yes, it can be.

I have over 300 videos on various channels on youtube, daily motion etc

Some have very very few views, others in their hundreds, and others in their thousands. But if you remember to include your landing page url in the description to give you google juce when people scrape videos containing your keywords.

Even test videos without sound, that just ask qualifying questions, so they "feel" the pain. (worth a test).

But also DON'T RULE OUT DOCUMENT SHARING SITES like

    slideshare.net
    docstoc.com
    scribd.com

as they can now allow you to embed videos into your presentations and embed the presentation onto the likes of your linkedin profile and other web pages.

Also, use pingler.com or similar to promote your video url once its up, and also give thought to....

Submit Your Channel to Pingler.com etc -
    http://www.youtube.com/rss/user/USERNAME/videos.rss

Submit Specific tag feed to Pingler.com etc - http://www.youtube.com/rss/tag/YOURTAGHERE.rss

Hope that helps, and gets you thinking...

Yes, video marketing has been becoming the preferred method to receive information.

It's been said that YouTube is the 2nd largest search engine and it will likely become even more popular.

People simply would rather watch a video than read a boring article.

So when you combine videos in your website it will increase your click through rates and sales.

We shot an interview with the owner of a day care that had just opened a new location... it was just 10 questions about why you can trust them with your little one etc...

She took the video and burnt her own DVDs at home, labeled them with sharpies! and had a friend that was a postel carrier drop so many at time on their route (illegal?)

I must say my video were pretty good but her DVDs were not. But she went from 20% capacity to 80% in less than a month. So I say that even less than steller video can have a positive impact.

Foot Note about message to market match... her neighborhood and clients were NOT upscale so it might have been a good fit for them?
