Has anyone worked with a Gold Buyer?

I potentially have a client who is a local shop that buys and sells gold along with coins, jewelry, etc. I'm going to talk with them about doing their website, local SEO and social media.

I want to better understand their business before I go in there and thought I'd ask here if anyone has worked with a Gold Buyer before and just find out what you found worked best for that type of business. (ie, Facebook fan page, Twitter, G+, etc.)

Any other information that would be helpful about this local niche would be welcome. Thanks!

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I have a client that is in business Buying Gold and Jewelry. They have a physical store where people come in and sell gold. They also buy and sell rare coins and stuff. I'm going to be helping them build a website and work with them on other SEO and Social Media tasks. Just looking for input from someone who has worked with a similar type client in the past.

Probably some long-tail keywords for their city. Facebook can be a good source as you are able to reach people that are struggling financially who are happy to sell or "loan" their gold for extra cash. In terms of the website, with the high competition in the gold market, it's probably best to focus on other aspects of their business, maybe? I'm no expert, but that's what I'd be doing.

Some keywords to target are those related to people searching for what gold and silver are worth. For example, before I called a local gold buyer recently, I searched for, "current gold value" or "0.925 silver value." Those folks could be one step away from selling their stuff. Use Adwords and target local only. They may be some hot leads! I believer he can put a ticker on his site somehow of current daily rates. Give folks the instant info they are looking for, with his phone number all over it.

I bet those are pricey keywords, though.

    Good luck!

I did a website for a gold buyer recently. I put an opt in on the site (a drawing where they give away a $50 free gift certificate). They are not the greatest marketers to be honest, and after 6 months they don't have ONE subscriber on their list. My assumption is that they are not working real hard to get subscribers, I'm sure they never even mention it to walk ins. The owner owns another business and I think he is just pushed to the limit. There is alot of competition in the gold buyer business as well.

Its funny because I've been charging them $49 per month for hosting/maintenance for the site. I just got their last payment and they put a note in with the $25 check letting me know that they only needed hosting from now on. Go figure.

Yeah I have a client that is a gold buyer. They have pretty low margins so volume is key. We did a website, have it ranked in google + local, have it ranking organically and do EDDM with them. They don't have a lot of money to spend on their marketing usually, so its low margins for you too. I took mine on mainly in a slow period, but they've been low maintenance, and steady with payment.

We have a Local client on the Gold Buyer niche. This company operates in some city in California. We created Google Place for each branches and ranked them up for some medium competitive keywords.
