Upload to Youtube at 360p not 720p

I have created videos that are 720p & 1080p but when I upload them to Youtube for clients they always play at 360p. I can click on the tab to view it at a higher resolution but I would like them to automatically play at 720p. Is there any way of making this happen?

Thanks

  • I believe YouTube selects the best resolution based on your available bandwidth...could be wrong though.
  • Youtube playback is based on the bandwidth of the person watching the video.

At home many videos for me default to 720p

    • Same here. It always defaults to 720.

  • Try this...

Beneath the Youtube player click on the "Share" button. Then click on "Options" and in the drop-down menu check "HD link." Copy and paste the link to your webpage.

Here's an example using the trailer "A good day to die harder". I have a wicked fast internet connection yet the "default" resolution comes up at 480p:

A Good Day to Die Hard - Official Trailer (HD) - YouTube
Doing what I stated above gives you this:

A Good Day to Die Hard - Official Trailer (HD) - YouTube

A Good Day to Die Hard - Official Trailer (HD) - YouTube
  • This leads me to my next question.

Say if I have a blog, I write content for this blog post which is optimized. In the same blog post, I embed my youtube video and copy & past my blog post content into the description box in youtube. I will also fully optimize the youtube video for my local keywords. Would this be seen as duplicate content?
