So, I'm a grammer Nazi. Why I don't think you should look like a teenager when replying.

Does it also turn you guys just completely off when you get an email that looks like the following:

hi there saw ur ad on wf and i might be able to help

ad me on skype

Maybe its just me, but 99.9% of the time , it makes me feel less of the person writing it.

Just wondering what you all thought.

I think if a customer emailed me something like that , I would probably be wary of working for them.

I agree. Anyone who would communicate with me in a business context would get their email deleted with no reply.

Keep in mind some of the posts come from people who
do not speak/write English very well.

I too am a grammar Nazi, and I am wary of working with someone that can't put the time and effort into communicating properly.

Your post is rife with grammatical errors, poor or incorrect word choices, and lacking coherency. If it's satire, based on your topic, then well done. If you were trying to make a serious point, I'd spell and grammar check your post a bit more before going live with it next time.

I don't think you can call yourself a grammar nazi until you write correctly yourself.

Personally correct grammar isn't that important to me as long I can understand what the other person wanted to tell.

You're a tool. Don't go around complaining about the written skills of bilingual individuals on the forum when you yourself are from Pittsburgh and continue to make ridiculously idiotic grammatical errors. Why in the world do you put spaces after your commas? Have you never read a book? Where in the world have you seen an articulate intellectual put a space in between their grammatical markings? DUR.

It's funny how you make a connotative connection between terrible grammar and teenagers. I'm a teenager and based upon the post I just read, I'd be willing to bet $1000 that I'm a far more coherent writer. I hope you're just trolling here.

edit: Just read over my reply and noticed that I sound like a douche here. My bad. This post pisses me off. I apologize if I sound like an asshole but I honestly hope you're not being serious.

Calm down little fella. If the shoe fits, wear it. I've always seen spaces after comma's. Hell, outlook corrects it if you don't? What are you talking about?

Hope you ya'll are having a great day.

Yeah, I said Ya'll. How's that for Grammar?

I think he was talking about how you put a space, then a comma, then another space.

Lol it's funny though that in this post there is no space before the comma. "Hell, outlook corrects it if you don't?" Was that a question or a statement Mr. Grammar Guru?

To address your original post, I believe it is important to match your client. If they are typing like a teenager don't be so worried about how you are typing. Same for phone, if they are being casual, don't talk all proper and stuffy. Just bcause someones forte is not GRAMMER, doesn't mean you should not do business with them. I work with a lot of owner of tattoo shops. All of the ones that I deal with are super smart and savvy business people, yet they don't talk or type like typical business people, because they are not. It's actually refreshing to work with them because I can be myself and talk like I am talking to a friend. It actually makes working with them more enjoyable.

Good grammar is important and nice to see. I think some of the poor grammar is due to foreigners posting. So it is a language barrier basically. I'm glad they are posting and am alright with their struggling. They will improve over time with practice. However, for native speakers of English, they don't really have any good reason not to be using good grammar.
