Strike while the irons hot with new PayPal Here app...

Not looked in to all the details yet however PayPal's new offering could be the ideal tool for off-line marketers doing face to face meetings with clients.

This will enable you to take payment for your service on the spot with a iPhone or Android device.

You could now easily get a workforce of freelance sales staff who you pay on commission to do the leg work and ensure the money is straight in the bank with out having the worry of them skimming your sales.

Only in the US for now however hopefully it will roll-out globally soon.

Hey Phil good news UK Versions are here and they are cheaper than PayPal and some do not have claw back penalties either!

There are three on the market, two are shipping now and one in Jan 2013.

      See links below :-

https://www.izettle.com/ (Free Card Reader and 2.75% charge per transaction)

https://payleven.co.uk/ (Out in Jan 2013, Bluetooth device, much more robust than the other two however may be charge for reader of £60 TBC, no charge backs 2.75% charge per transaction)

https://sumup.co.uk/ (Free Card reader 2.75% charge per transaction)

I make no guarentees on the info above it is as advised by the product owners today and may well change however at the present time there is no contract and no other fees they all just charge 2.75% of the transaction and transfer the monies minus the fee directly to your bank.... cheaper than PayPal and quicker too. Ideal if you are on foot and want to take payments on the spot.

Hope this helps you UK offline Warriors

      All the best.

Very cool, looks like they are going after Square's business as well as that Chase app that scans checks. Maybe they read this forum?

Yep..... as I said only in the US for now, I guess they haven't adapted it for Chip and Pin in the UK yet... fingers crossed they do something soon.

Never seen it on a US card so I guess not..., it was originally a EU idea.... that made absolutely no difference to fraud just generated a load of sales for Chip and Pin readers

Would love something like this for Australia. I just use a EFTPOS terminal with a SIM card in it, but rolling out to more than a couple of reps would be really expensive @ $44 a month per terminal compared to something like this where you can provide your own hardware and they just take a % fee.

ANZ has an app you can accept cards with via iPhone but you need to physically key the number in. I find people are much more willing to swipe than type.

Quick update, https://sumup.co.uk/ now state that you have to have a minimum of £40 before you can transfer out and PayPal UK reckon they will not have a solution for the UK/EU chip and pin systems until well in to 2013, something to do with visa red tape so looking like izettle is the best option right now.

I'll update this if I hear anymore.
