I've brought $17,500 in 23 days into my business using this ONE Strategy!

Warriors,

I've gotten a lot from this forum since the day I joined. Thank God my business and my abilities have come a loooooooooooong way since then! This is my contribution to everyone. I hope you benefit from it as I have.

Part of the technique I'm going to show you is based off of Jason Kanigan's calling script. If he reads this thread, I'm sure he wouldn't mind linking to it.

Earlier this month I started a different prospecting technique. This involved me designing a VERY professional yet functional website for a dentist. The website has great capabilities to generate leads with prominent Call To Actions. This website looked GOOD, as you'll see why that matters later in this post. A quick Google search gave me a list of 10 dentists in the area that didn't have a website, or had a busted looking website. I went in person to each of these dentists to show it to them.

Now mind you, I've been blessed with sales ability. In addition to that, I have no issue walking into a business cold and talking to the owner. I find this better because whoever you're talking to can put a name to a face. You can interact with them in ways you can't do over the phone or through the mail. (No disrespect to either of those methods - as I use them in my business daily) I dress very sharply (dress shirt. tie, dress shoes) because since I'm a professional, I want to undoubtedly be viewed as one. I also had a picture of the homepage of the website I designed on my iPad when I walked in.

When I walked in, I used THIS EXACT TECHNIQUE to start and told the secretary:

"Hi, I'm not sure who I should be talking to - maybe you can help me out. I have a website I already designed that's 100% completed and I'm positive this dentistry can greatly benefit from it...but I'm not sure who I should be talking to... (trailing off with my voice with a puzzled look on my face)" When I mentioned the website, I placed the iPad in front of the secretary so she could see it. Here's what that script did for me:

The secretaries made it their sole duty in life to get that person NOW and bring them up front to talk to me! Crazy huh?

I visited 10 dentists. 3 were closed. 4 had just signed up with a company that specializes in dentist websites. (smile 24/7 or something like that) The other 3 told me who I needed to talk to and when to come back. I followed up again the very next day, and one of the ones that were closed the 1st time around, looked at the website right there on the spot. (I had it on a subdomain of my business website)

The end result?

$3,500 for the website on the spot with a wealth of opportunity on the back end. Here was the interesting part: NO ONE GOT UPSET, NO ONE GOT MAD. THEY JUST WANTED TO HELP ME OUT! This dentist has been wanting a website for sometime now. He was VERY grateful I followed up with him again. Talk about excitement! Getting to know him has been great, and his dentistry is already doing better as a result of it. But anyways...this gave me an idea.

How about I do this for more industries? I spent the next 2 days creating 4 more websites - Contractors, Plumbers, Lawyers, Accountant.

Just like the above, I targeted 10 businesses from each industry. When I went to sell to contractors, I sold it on only the second business. He told me "There's no way in hell I'm gonna let you offer this to so and so competitor down the street". I sold the plumbing website on the 5th business. I sold the lawyer website on the 4th firm, and I sold the accountant website on the 6th. I dedicated an individual day to each industry, but after an average of about 2 hours, I was back in my office with the websites sold.

Each website was sold for $3,500. What helped me sell them the website so easily was the valued I created. For example: Once I was talking to the person in charge, I made the following points while showing the around the website:

"John, this website is the best website of all dentists in this entire city. I already looked and if you'd like, so can you."
"Now this part of the website increases your calls because we've made a clear call to action. How do you prefer your prospects contact you John, by phone? Ok so yes, this feature will definitely increase your phone calls."
"Now John, this feature is my favorite. All of your customer testimonials will rotate through on every single page. Your credibility will SOAR through the roof! None of your other competitors have this feature on their websites. I already looked and if you'd like, so can you."

I also threw in some bonuses to make the deal an absolute no brainer. This "bonus package" consisted of 1) a 47 page report on marketing your business online. 2) A complementary month of lead generation. 3) A complementary business consultation on their marketing and advertising and how they can maximize both while spending less.

I expressed the value in these services as well like I did with the website features above. In each case, they GLADLY gave me my asking price, which led me to believe I could have gotten even more had I asked. I made a payment plan with the plumber, because he didn't have all the money. $1,500 up front, $1,00 in 30 days, and $1,000 in 60 days.

Some important points to take away from this: 1) Follow up regardless of what method you are using. Business owners are busy running their business and might not be able to see you/talk to you the first time around. 2) If possible, make personal contact with prospects. When you do this, you become "real" to them. 3) No matter what you're selling, BUILD THE VALUE! Had I done the same exact strategy but just said, "Would you like to my a website?" I wouldn't have gotten anywhere. 4) Find a great Introduction/Ice Breaker. In this case I used Jason's opener, and it worked flawlessly.

I'm excited because I am now in a position where I can help good business owners make more money with their businesses. And you want to know what the fumiest thing was? Every single one of them said sales were down and they were AND HAVE BEEN looking for a way to make more money!!!!!! They ALL told me that the only way they knew of was the Local Newspaper, Billboards, and The Direct Mail Companies (like ValPak) and yet they all said they've tried these services and didn't get good results! BUT THEY STILL ADVERTISED WITH THEM! If this doesn't encourage you to get out there and help these desperate owners, I don't know what will!

So there you have it. A straight forward proven way to help business owners while getting paid handsomely in the process!

This is a great idea. Did you build the website from scratch or use a worpress theme? I have made websites with Coffee Cup and with Wordpress...do you think either of these are good enough or should I learn some other method?

The websites are custom made wordpress themes. If they wanted the ability to make changes on their own, they can. So to answer your question, Wordpress is MORE than good enough!

Haha, you're spot on. My father always told me KISS, keep it simple stupid. I did just that. Although the idea and concept is so original, even you can see how complicated some people on this forum make things. I figured to myself - why complicate it? Here's to original (holding a glass of wine in the air to toast)

Thanks mate. But unfortunately I don't want to reveal that. Honestly, you would do just fine with one of the premium Wordpress themes that are out there. They look wayyyy better than 75% of the websites that are out there!

I guess I should have mentioned this. I promised 100% exclusivity! That was another selling point. I made sure they understood I was showing the website to their competitors and that SOMEONE was going to take it. Once I got payment, I called the others I had visited with, thanked them for their time and kindly let them know that one of their competitors had taken it.

I think doing that was like putting alcohol on an open wound

Oh, and the header of the dentist website said "City Dentist", the lawyer website said "City Lawyer" etc. I made a nice looking logo that matched using Photoshop.

I'd just like to make this clear for the guys new to offline marketing and web design...these results are not typical.

They are certainly possible...but do not expect to build a website tonight and sell it by noon tomorrow if this is your first walk in the park in door to door selling or cold calling.

Now that I'm done with the disclaimer, GREAT JOB! People like you are the ones that should be role models to anyone complaining about their financial situation.

Wow. You've put a lot of thought and research into this and it's definately paid off, big time.

There was something about Jason's "unsure" method that I wasn't comfortable with but a lot of marketers are having success with it so it's definately on the "test" list.

        Thanks for the share.

I did it on a subdomain on my own personal website. It looked like this:
          www.dentist.mymarketingwebsite.com

Question: You showed your "Sample" site to dentists and the first ONE who bought, did you keep his site as a "Sub-Domain", on your site (with "City Dentist" as the Header) or...did you get a Domain for his site?

          Thanks much,
          Don Alm

P.S. Whenever someone shares an idea with me, I like to reciprocate. Because I like to provide website buyers with their own Domain, I've found that with a heavily populated Niche like "Dentists"...I can use "ZIPCODE+ Dentist.com" for a domain and usually find it available.

            Don Alm,

I'm honored. Once they brought the website, I sat down with them and we picked out a standalone domain name to purchase for them. We'll sit down and together to pick it out. I purchase it after our meeting. It was on this newly purchased domain that their site then in turn was placed. I don't buy the dentist domain ahead of time.

I've been through a lot of your threads. They're full of great sales advice. You my friend have what it takes to absolutely slaughter this method. If you need help, or even would like to use a couple of the websites I have for the niches I mentioned above, let me know. JV possibly?

And just to be clear, this offer is ONLY for midasman09. Please don't PM me asking me to share these websites with you.

I also love how you sold the upsells...I personally tend to "lowball" for value minded consumers but I've been really looking at ways to beef up the prices of services with value add in mind.

Packaging websites with the other add ons is great!

Hey brik2500. Thanks for the love. Here's what helped me past the "lowballing" mindset. There were two actions that contributed to getting me out of my low balling mindset and into the land of getting paid what I'm worth.

I went to a BBQ for a former clients patient appreciation day. This is the conversation that took place with the guy who was grilling the food: (It's summarized)

Me: These burgers are pretty good! You must have a lot of experience!
Griller: Yeah I've been cooking my whole life. That's why I work with food.
Me: Oh yea? What do you do?
Griller: I'm the food and beverage director at the Ramada Inn.
Me: Wow! That's awesome! How's business for you guys? I heard it was down. (This was a lie, since I didn't really hear that)
Griller: Business is down from last year. Right now we're trying to get our website redone because it currently sucks.
Me: You're kidding me! I run a web design marketing firm and that's one of our specialties!
Griller: Get the hell out of here! The company that did our website 5 years ago charged us $5,000 and it sucks! Everyone that visits it hates it. We asked them to redo it, but they want another $5,000. And that price is without any of the features we want! I haven't signed the contract. If we paid you $2,500 could you put something together for us?
Me: (In my head: HELLLLL YEAAAA!) Absolutely. I'm free tomorrow at 11a and 1p. Which time works better for you?

Talk about ecstatic! This company, a worldwide hotel chain was more than willing to pay me at least $2,500 for my website design services. Mind you, prior to this meeting, I was hesitant asking business owners for the sale at only $800. I called 3 other area web design companies posing as a dental firm and asked for quotes. They ranged from $2,000 - $4,500. Mind you, these quoted prices were for JUST WEBSITES.

I knew that I had been undercharging, but MAN, I was killing myself. After designing a website at $800, it was barely enough to cover my living expenses for my family, bills, etc. I was only selling one of these per month. I did 5 websites at these prices, and these owners were always blowing up my phone about this and that, wanting to change this and that. Once I decided to raise my prices, I made it a point to make the business owner come to the decision that what they were getting was worth way more than $3,500. 2 things happened. Firstly, one website a month went A LOT further then before. I was able to pay my expenses, bills, put food on the table, invest money back into my business AND put money into savings! Secondly, I don't get any lip from these business owners. They have not ONCE called me about anything. And when I stop in to update them on things, they tell me how grateful they are to be working with me.

I kind of went off on a tangent here, I apologize lol. Some people might not have the confidence to charge much yet. But what I suggest is adding things on as a package that don't cost you much money and time. Ex: Free marketing report, professional 60 second video (fiverr), 5 free leads etc. Then raise your price accordingly.

Good luck to you brother. I hope this novel of a post helps.

No recurring payments from the website. Just hosting monthly. That is $300. In the story above, the other web design firm was charging $600/year in hosting fees! When I saw that in the contract, I was floored!

No problem man. The website can be copied from the subdomain and placed onto the new website address we chose. Nice and easy.

[QUOTE=dnjoseph1;7229904]Hey brik2500.

Indeed...these guys are paying for it....and I can't believe what these guys pay for HORRENDOUS websites....

What's funny is I had a conversation with a film producer the other day....and we got on the subject of websites.....

Now he is putting a fund together to put films in the pipeline and he doesn't have a website.

Before I mentioned it, I made a point to go to his website....BAD...lol...

nonetheless, I asked him what was his normal budget for doing a website....

        HE TOLD ME $2,500!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kid you not....no joke....I couldn't believe it....I've done better websites than his current one with my homestead/intuit account..

Nonetheless, I we spoke on a bunch of things after that...and I mentioned that I could make sure he gets an incredible site.

I'm looking to be an exec producer on one of his films and a broker on his fund so....I didn't really push the issue.

        But you're exactly right!

Thanks for your insights, shares homey!

      Hi DN....I prefer to do ONE-Page sites similar to this one;

      Houston Discount Plumbing Contractors

I prefer dealing with "Service" businesses.

SAME Template for each niche....and...only ONE PAGE for each site. I learned my lesson when I first started building and selling sites. I found that any my than 1 page....clients want to "Bug" me with changes.

ONE page...that's it. because....the MAIN REASON for a website is to GET LEADS....not to provide an "encyclopedia" of who they are, what they can do, how long they been doing it...etc.

      For most "addresses" I use a local "Mail Box" service and use their addy (123 Main) and add a "Suite" for each client;
      123 Main Ste 24A
      123 Main Ste 24B
      123 Main Ste 24C

Then....I use "callfire" for the phone # which redirects to my client's actual phone AND...callfire lets me know how many calls have come in.

      I charge a Set-Up Fee (min of $500) and Monthly ($150 to $450/mo)

Depending on the business, I like to have the Monthly = to profit from One Customer....so....if my site can get a client ONE customer a month, he's happy.

I maintain Control. If a client wants to cancel, I just "redirect" to the new renter.

I learned this a few yrs ago from Jack Mize of "OffLine X Factor". One of Jack's programs is "One Page Landlord".

    Hi Don,

Do you sell the one page website via walk in or other approaches?

How much generally you charge for the one page site? Close ratio is good for this type of site for local business owners?

    Thanks for your input.

How do you generate leads from these sites. In the example there are not even enough exact match searches to show up on googles keywords. Do you advertise them?

Excuse me! I did NOT intend for MY comments to "divert" attention OFF of DN! HE was nice enough to FREELY OFFER his successes! AND...everyone here should APRECIATE his "offering"!

MY Answer to; "Not enough Matches" is; THAT'S NOT THE QUESTION! I do NOT care "How Many Searches" any "Keyword" has...for MY "1-Page Sites"! THIS is a matter of, "I got something that can "INCREASE YOUR BIZNESS "for YOU and I'm offering IT to YOU.... RIGHT NOW....AND...10 of your Competitors! The FIRST ONE who WANTS IT...GETS IT!

I am appealing to a very strong EMOTION called....EGO!

Understand what DN has done here!

      DN has;
      1) Gotten a "Money-Making Idea"!...from somewhere.
      2) Researched it
      3) Decided that, "Yes! I'd like to give this a TRY!
      4) Put together the "Stuff needed to GET 'ER DONE"
      and...
      5) WENT OUT AND "DID IT"!

Holy Camoly! Maybe ONCE in a while....you who are "looking to find YOUR way of making money without begging or punching time-clocks....can begin to understand the "Risk-Taker" mentality!

And....say to yourself; "SELF! I don't care what my family or friends say! I....Me, Myself and I....would LIKE to do "THIS"! And....YA JUST GO OUT AND...DO IT!

      OK! I'm OFF my "High-Horse" and back to the question at hand;

These are what I've found that WORKS....for me!

      1) Make up a ONE-PAGE TEMPLATE for a Web Page for a "SERVICE" business (that's been proven to bring in business...I'm using templates I got from Jack Mize....oflline X factor)
      2) Place this "1-page Template" in a SUB-Domain of your Main Domain (www.Plumber.MyDemoDomains.com)
      3) Send a Link to your "Sample Page" to 10 biznesses in your local Niche, saying (in the email Subject Box) ....YOU have found a way for them to get MORE BUSINESS from local homeowners!....this email notice is being sent to 10 local plumbers!....first-come, first-serve!

Again....excuse me for jumping in on Dn's thread. HE...is a DOER! and I applaud his "GO-GETIVE-NESS"!

No please, excuse me. I guess I didn't understand your post. You said that you were renting that page out and that as long as they got one customer a month it was worth it to them. I was just curious how you drove the traffic to get the 1 customer a month without any backlinks, advertising or exact match searches. Perhaps someone else understands it better and can break it down for my dull mind.

Great Thread and input from all. Thank you very much as this is a great validation of my current plan of action. I do agree with monthly recurring income and the scarcity for the client mentality for our services. I did want to know if you plan on upselling additional services at the rates you and your family deserve and now that you know what the customer's reaction would be, if you plan on increasing the prices per site/package and charging monthly or leaving the same tactic from here on out. Thanks and all the best!

    BIG kudos to the OP!

So... I tried this today. Without success. But that does NOT mean it doesn't work. It means I need to get better at sales. That's all. I see this could work.

I targeted auto repair. Made a nice lead gen-style website. Probably not as awesome as the OP's site, but definitely better than any of the existing websites of the auto repair shops around here.

I took screenshots of it, and took my ipad out with me today. I wore jeans, but looked nice. I figured jeans were okay since I was going to mechanic shops and I'm a girl, quite frankly.

I hit around 15 auto repair shops. Targeted the ones with no website or they had a really crummy site.

Only a handful were even interested. Most of them didn't even really want to look a the site.

Common objections were "I actually have a site. My buddy does my site. I'm working on a deal for a site now. We don't need a site. We have all the business we need from word of mouth." etc, etc. etc.

Most were really nice. One was rude. Bought myself a yummy coffee to get over that one.

I had an outline showing the value of the site/package. It included the site, 2 years hosting, 2 years support, mobile version, lead gen set up, etc. It showed the actual value of $3,500.

Then I told them I would sell the site today to them or one of the competitors. But I'd like for them to have it, get the customers, and I'd be willing to give it to them for $1700 if they bought it then.

The price was definitely an obstacle for the ones who were even a little bit interested. I probably could have sold it for $400 or so, but really? I'm trying to avoid having a business like that. (You all have taught me that.)

I do have one mechanic to follow up with.

I learned a TON, and I don't regret my time and effort put in. I may try it again in a different niche.

So, in the end, I say go for it! It doesn't take a terribly long time to put together a site, get your targeted leads together, and spend a day selling it.

I don't have a big network yet, so this was a good approach for me at this point. In the end, it wasn't a total wash. I got permission from ALL of them to send them my newsletter. I built some good rapport with some, and learned a lot. While I didn't sell the site, my sales skills are better for it.

    Thanks, OP!

Yes, I signed a "basic agreement" and I gave him an invoice for tax purposes. This agreement basically said a couple of things in a few sections. 1. I listed the benefits of a professionally designed website. 2. I listed the scope of working outlining EVERYTHING I was going to be doing. 3. The "investment" on their part as well as my performance guarantee. Simple. Easy. Effective.

I do plan on offering other marketing ideas that will definitely benefit them. I already told them I had some other awesome ideas, but we were going to take one step at a time. Yes, I'll be increasing my prices further. I got a referral from one of these businesses already. Wnen I meet with him, I plan on increasing my asking price. I'm confident I won't have any issues! Good luck to you brother - TAKE ACTION! It's said so often on here, but you won't be helping anyone by sitting at home making excuses as to why you can't and won't go out. They NEED your help!

      AmyKay!

Just reading your post made my day! I'm super pumped you went out there and took action. I want to help you sell that mechanic website if its the last thing I DO!

You have the right idea. But now we're going to take a different spin on it. Using the same approach we're going to approach them. When we get interest (and we WILL) we want their undivided attention! So we tell them, the website is going to be FREE to them. What?! FREE???! Yes, free,

"This website will end up being FREE to the business that decides to take it."

This is where you can truly gauge their interest. Those who seriously aren't interested, will tell you they don't care. Those who are interested even in the slightest way, will ask more questions about why it would be free.

"Website designs and website redesigns are 100% tax deductible. So when you invest in your website today, you're not only going to be 10 steps ahead of your competition, but it won't cost you anything either. When you file your taxes at in February, the IRS is going to allow you to claim 100% of what you invested today."

Surprisingly, this doesn't seem to be commonly known. I used this when I started to feel resistance to my used to be $800 price tag. Lol. Here is the next step you take. You tell them something along these lines:

"This is no ordinary website. This is a cash register! Here's why!" Then you start to point to features on the website that actually have value and benefit his business.

"This feature right here? These are scrolling testimonials. These are literally screaming to your website visitors HEY! THIS REPAIR SHOP ROCKS! THEY ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING!!! None of your competitors in this entire city have this feature! You'd be the ONLY one!"

"This feature here is a automatically scrolling featured slider! In it is going to be a video we're going to create for you that's going to BLOW YOUR MIND! This video is a bonus to the mechanic that purchases this website. But this video blows EVERY single local commercial you see on TV out of the water! This video is going to tell YOUR prospect WHY they should be doing business with you and your shop instead of Joe blow down the street! We'll even give them an offer code to use! After watching this video, they're going to be fumbling with their phone to call YOU! Bob...price shoppers will be a thing of the past. NONE of your competitors have ANYTHING like this! A commercial like this alone would cost you $1,000. You're getting it FREE."

Can you see how we're hooking them in using exclusivity? Also we're pulling on a pain they feel. Price shoppers are NOTORIOUS in this industry. If we tell them we can help them convert their website visitors at a higher percentage, they WILL understand that language.

      Lastly, we tell them

"Bob, there's over 300 people searching online for "city repair shops" EVERY SINGLE MONTH! (Do some keyword research in your city, add up all the local keywords, and use that number here) They're looking for you! Chances are, them or someone they know NEEDS WHAT YOU HAVE! If you don't have a professionally designed website, you're missing out on ALL OF THEM. (If you have a cheap looking website, it reflects on your repair service. You're missing out on ALL OF THEM!) We're going to market this video ALL over the internet. Anyone in this city who searching for auto repair shops WILL have an 80% chance of seeing your video. Bob just to keep this conservative, if we get just 10 of those 300 people to call your shop based on your video OR your awesome website, is it safe to say you can get 5 of them to come in and redeem their coupon from the video/website? Now what's your average repair ticket? About $600? (I always shoot higher - they will correct you. It's about $350-$400 in my city) 5 people x $400 = $2,000. And that's just 5 people...in ONE month. I've seen that number more than triple. And chances are, you could be doing this every month. A couleague of mine did a website for his mechanic that generates him over 50 calls per month. (You're not lying, since that colleague is me! )"

Now we brought search into the equation. They're normally sold by this point. They might have some questions, but I'm sure you could answer them. In their eyes, you know exactly what you're talking about (Just like they know what they're talking about when talking to a customer about their car).

At this point, I give them my guarantee: "I track every phone call that comes to your website. If you don't get ONE LEAD, ONE PHONE CALL or ONE CUSTOMER from your website/video in 6 months, I'll give you double your investment back"

You can get the video from VideoHive. There's a LOT of videos on there that are VERY professional. Have then edited on Fiverr. Get a script done that SELLS either from here on the WF or a copywriter on Fiverr. Then get a voice over done on Fiverr to put into the video. Total cost is around $40-$60. But these videos look insane!

Then you get that video ranked for 1 or 2 of the keywords from above. It's extremely easy with the right strategies. I can help you with this. This again can be done using good strategy and a few Fiverr gigs. This costs around $20-$30.

Then you ask them for the sale. Tell them it's worth over $5,000. Ask them for $3,500. If he doesn't have it or is hesitant, tell him you are willing to do a payment plan. You can tell how interested they are by their actions. I know this might be a lot to take in, but the principles work. Be enthusiastic, and be confident. You're the expert. You've shown them what they've been missing out on in regards to search traffic. And you've shown them website features that none of their competitors have. I hope this wasn't too confusing lol.

I'm pumped you took action. That really does excite me. PM me with your email and I'll will give you the website I use for my car repair client. It rocks! I'll also share with you the youtube ranking strategies I use. Trust me when I say, they work! We WILL get this website sold!

How does being able to claim 100% of the cost as a deduction make it free?

It doesn't make it free. If a dentist makes 300k a year and they purchase equipment for 100k, pay their staff 100k, and buy your website for 3k, they will only have to report 97k of income. Then they have their personal deductions and credits which can lower their taxable income down even more. Taxable income is obviously the money you pay taxes on, so instead of paying $70,000~ tax to the government, they will pay more like $20,000 with all these business deductions.

All said and done, your $3000 website would only save the business owner maybe $600-$800 on their taxes. So no, not free like others are saying, but it does add up.

      Hey Daniel,

Thanks for sharing how you got sales! I think you have a flare for sales as you've said. Reading your writing makes me all excited and pumped up. Best of all, I think it creates the desire in people to TAKE ACTION!

      Amy,

We went to look for car mechanics too. We customized a report for them to look at talking about getting ranked on Google and getting leads, with all the information they'll need up there... And guess what? We had the same results as you. I don't know if it's the industry or something... But we didn't get any sales from that experience too. What's surprising is that quite a number of them said they have enough business. One (whom I believe sees the value in our services) even told me he's happy with what's he's earning now and don't need extra business.

From reading your post, it seems like the car mechanics in your area don't see the value in it. Pretty difficult to convince someone to buy when they don't see it, IMO.

Perhaps you could relook at the common objections and think of ways to respond that'll make them ask more about your services? Just a suggestion!

Hope things have turned around for you by now!

        Hey Esther,

Good for you for getting out there and taking action! Woooo! I'm sorry you're facing opposition as well. How about this. I do agree that car repair shops can be a bit tough. Why? Because everyone NEEDS their cars serviced.

Let's switch over to contractors for example. They won't give you as much flack as a car repair shop would. Why? Because they NEED what you have! THink about it...if someone is looking to hire a contractor of some sort, they're most likely going to start their search online. If the contractor isn't located there, they lost. Now paint the picture of the prospect visiting this chiropractors website and seeing 1) The awesome design 2) The glowing testimonials from past clients 3) A personal video of the contractor introducing himself 4) TONS of pictures from past projects!

Being that the prospect is most likely going to be spending upwards of $10,000, they NEED to see these things from a contractor they're considering. Everything that was on the website is enough to actually CLOSE they prospect without ever talking to anyone! They WILL SEE THE VALUE!

If you've already talked to 10 car repair shops, switch gears and move into another niche. Contractors. Let me know if you have any questions. I'm here.

Daniel, those are some great sales tips in your follow up post! I'd like to get at sales and that will help.

I made a list of dentists in the area without a website and was gonna head out today to dentist offices but thought I should prepare better. I don't even have a website to show them!

Its ironic that I had a very similar idea to yours two weeks before your post but never acted on it. My idea was to approach dentists who could use a web redesign. The plan was to go in the morning before there is a gatekeeper to deal with. Will definitly take action on your idea. I can't send PMs as my post count is below 50 but here is my email address, I'd like to keep in touch. shwin554ATgmailDOTcom

I'm a "small-town" sales guy. In the towns I operate in there are 2 or 3 Dentists. The ONLY way I was able to sell Dentists in these small towns was to WALK IN and SHOW MY STUFF to the dentist!

If I had made "Phone-Calls" or "Sent Emails" or "Mailed Letters" to the THREE dentists....I would NEVER have sold anything to these people.

I'm sorry folks, I realize most of the "audience" here would rather try and earn money "using their KeyBoards"....however....in "REAL LIFE"....business people, professionals, medicos and Dentists....MUST BE SOLD....hold on, here it comes...the words that scare the "Pee-Wadin" (look it up) out of most "IM" folks is...."FACE-TO-FACE" selling!

So....US "Face-To-Face" sales guys who "Collect MONEY" from the SAME potential clients who've received...Phone calls, Emails, Letters....just go about our business of COLLECTING CLIENTS by....WALKING-IN COLD!

      Now....here's a tip for anyone who'd like to know how "US" Direct-Sales Guys collect CHECKS from Dentists and other "Medicos";

I arrive at a Dentist's office at 7:45am (when the dentist arrives to start his day) and at 12:45 (when the dentist is back from lunch and ready for his afternoon patients)

I "Barge-In"....ask to see the "Office Manager"....SHOW her what I'm doing and why my program will bring in More Patients AND....ask her if I can SHOW the Dentist!

She looks over my "stuff" and tells me, "Hold On! I'll get Dr Jones"!

DENTIST COMES OUT....LOOKS AT MY PRESENTATION....
      PAUSES....
STROKES HIS CHIN AND SAYS, "LET'S DO IT!"....SIGNS MY "AGREEMENT" and the Office Mgr writes me a check!

Again....I'm sorry folks....you can phone 100 prospects, send them emails, mail them letters BUT....US guys who VISIT PROSPECTS IN-PERSON will continue to .....MAKE MONEY EVERY DAY!

Don Alm....sales guy who "goes out and picks up checks...IN-PERSON"

      Hey Philboy,

Who knows how long that link has been there? Midas has a ton of threads all over the forum in which he cold walks into businesses to offer them something of value. Literally, tons of threads. Look it up if you'd like.

His methods are sound. There's a recording he has of cold walking into a business and selling them on something and in 90 seconds he has a check in hand. It's pretty good, haha.

Anyways, thanks for stopping by the thread. If you have any questions about the above methods, feel free to ask.

I had to log in just to thank the OP for detailing such a great method for others to make money by building and selling websites.

It's always been easier to set your own price when the prospect can actually see the finished product and the quality of your work before they buy.

I don't have an ipad either as i have no real use for it, but theres many ways around it.

      1) You can take a screenshot of the homepage and print it out in color on cardstock paper for about $1.00, you can even laminate it if you want. Then show it to the prospect. after that ask if they have a computer available to test it out live.

      2) Use your smartphone if you have one. Using this method could cause you to get a higher asking price because you can easily include a mobile version of the website as well.

      Good Luck

      Hey Levy,

If you don't have an iPad or similar, don't worry about it at all. Another strategy you could use is using the same as above, but instead of pulling out your iPad, you ask them to show it to them on their computer. This works as well. They will normally turn their screen around so you both and see it and they will hand you the keyboard.

If you don't want to do this, you can get their email and tell them you're going to send them an email with the information about the website. Tell them if they are serious about their business, they NEED to open the email you send them and see their future website. Don't let the lack of an iPad deter you. Sell your first website then go out and buy one! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!

An update to my original post:

This weekend I traveled to see my mom. On one of the flights there while still at the gate, I sat next to a gentleman. In our conversation I asked him what he did for a living. I found out he was an attorney. Immediately after answering my question, he asked me what I did. I told him I helped small and medium sized companies supercharge their advertising, marketing and revenue. This got his attention, because now he wanted to know the "HOW"?

I used pieces of the above scripts in response and then mentioned I designed a lawyer website the week before. I showed him the demo website on my iPad while we waited to push back from the gate. I showed him the benefits of each of the features. He was loving it! I told him that a lawyer from my city had purchased the website from me, but our agreement wasn't exclusive. If he wanted the same website, I would give it to him at half the price. Just as long as "he didn't mind having the same website as another lawyer in a city 1,000 miles away" He asked how much, and I told him. He got on the phone right there, called his office, and told his secretary to cut a check for me and leave it on his desk. He would mail it to me when he got back into town! I told him I would email him the simple 3 page agreement later that day.

It turns out his website wasn't bad, but he wanted a better one. He knew that our website design package would establish his firm as the go to firm in their city.

The point of this post to to inspire you to get out there and help a business! You know what the best part is? You can make a lot of money in the process! Get out there and do something. It doesn't matter what it is! It can be anything productive, but DO something!

Inspiring is not the word dude. I have a couple of questions though... What monetary investment did you have to put into creating these websites, Im talking logo design, paying for images, etc.. Not the hosting etc..
The big thing that has been holding me back lately for some reason is motivation, I just have not been motivated, but after reading your post, I feel like going out and making a difference again. You are truly inspiring dude, and I wish you all the best.

Crazy huh?
That is such a nice twist. So damn simple yet I had never thought of it. It seems so obvious now! Thanks for that.

And to Amy, congrats on taking action. But watch the language Daniel uses when he gave you tips: at first, it's all about BENEFITS TO THE CLIENT. Not features (which comes next yet are explained in the angle of what it can bring them) and not price just yet.

If they don't have a website or a bad one, probably they don't understand the need for it. Most of them want and understand new customers, new sales, new leads. Talk THEIR language, not yours. Daniel shows how it's done.

I admit I'm stomped when someone says "We're satisfied with the volume we have". Most of the time I think it's true too - they really mean it! I guess it goes against my own thinking process
