So whag do you want??? A handout???

I am not trying to be rude.... I mean, if you really did serve our country, thank you for your service.

But, you say you don't want to do or make money from offline because you will lose your unemployment. So, we can't help you there. Don't want you to losse your unenjoyment.

I guess I am lost as to what you are looking for? A hug?

Yeah I am also confused? If you want help building a business this is the place to be, but it sounds like you expect us to give you a pat on the back and $5000....

I was in the Army for 6 years so respect for your service and all but I don't see what you are trying to accomplish?

not to mention, nobody will know you are running a business... unless you tell them.

another words, just don't tell unemployment, until you are making enough to sever the tie.

I'm just trying to figure out how to start and still be able support myself and son. I'm not looking at anyone to give me 5000 dollars. I would rather have work anyday than unemployment.

Just in a hard situation because of my son being sick right now. If it was just me. I wouldn't have any problem forgoing unemployment and eating ramen and low cost meals for a few months.

Just seeing if anyone has been in a similar situation with any advice.

I need a stable income because unemployment ends also at the end of December. I really hate being on unemployment anyway. My VA Claim finally has finished after a year. So now i'm rushing to save up 5000 grand by December(My son is sick in another country).

I don't have perfect credit. Alot of bills where put in my name by my mother when I was younger. I should have been working on fixing that years ago.

I keep wanting to start in offline marketing but I don't want to lose the unemployment for the last 2 months. Really I would rather just have an IT job doing helpdesk work. I have applied for many at the army base here but to no avail.

Life seems to be going down the tube big time right now. I'm about to lose my whole future by the end of the year. Who would have thought I felt like I was on top of the world a few years ago and now i'm down in the dumps.

If I make any money doing offline marketing my unemployment will stop. I don't want to be stuck in a situation where my unemployment stopped and I have nothing to fall back on.
umm, relocate? There are tons of IT jobs in Chicago. With that experience you would be working in a day or something is wrong (and unmentioned?) It's a big world out there and no chain binding your feet.

Think im going to bite the bullet and just go forward with offline marketing. If still being on unemployment bites me in the rear end next year. I'll just deal with it then.
        1. Find someone on here who you can work commission for (I'd be happy to do it).

        2. Call up local businesses that don't have websites and ask if they would be interested.

        3. Get the contact details of the interested ones and send them my (or someone's) portfolio and take down their questions.

        4. If they buy a website, get paid 40% or better, meaning $400-$500+ per sale. Average number of calls to a sale is around 120-150. Sell 10 websites at $500 and you have your goal. To make $5000, that's about 1500 phone calls.

Only doing 300 calls per week (or 50 calls per day, 6 days a week) will get you out of this situation in 5 weeks.

I'm sorry, I don't understand. Do you mean that you moved to each of these places and THEN went job searching? May I call you Dude?
DUDE!! You are on the internet! Have you posted any resumes, anywhere? Because you have no degrees? That is an excuse... you have to sell yourself.
Where have you looked? Did you know that you can test for certifications? I was feeling for you with some being a bit harsh, but I'm pretty sure you're not going to do much in any type of marketing. Marketing takes, umm, balls and a go get em attitude, using ALL resources available. 8 1/2 years experience? Sorry, just don't buy it that you are trying that hard or the correct way. I Guarantee you that if you write your resume correctly and post it on Monster.com you WILL get recruiters coming to you. You just have to market yourself. Perhaps hire a writer to create your resume as something has to be wrong with it...

I wish the best for you and your family.
        Good luck!

Yes, Dude is fine. I did pay like 500 dollars for someone to review my military records and experience and write a resume. They wrote two. A military to federal job resume and a private sectors resume. I have posted my resume on monster.com, been to USA Jobs, Security clearance jobs, searched on google and seen jobs on indeed.com looking for IT Jobs. I have looked for virtual helpdesk jobs.

No matter how many people said it will be easy even if you dont have a degree with just your experience. That's not what i'm running into. I like and enjoy doing IT work. I even still fix peoples computers and laptops through word of mouth sometimes.

I do search for jobs because I don't believe in being on unemployment. Being on unemployment has already been a big enough ego blow for me. The only reason I went on unemployment was because I can't think of just myself. I have a son to worry about too. I can't give him no way near what I want him to have being on unemployment.

I just had people telling me what do I think i'm better than other people just because I waited 5 months after I got out even to start unemployment. That was a I have run out of saved up funds decision.

Part of why I got out is rated for PTSD. I don't know if that has been a factor or if an employer can even see that. I think most people think PTSD and they think crazy or something. Me personally it was just anxiety which I have worked through.

I would very much rather be back in the military. Since I can't go back after being medically retired. I have to move forward in the civilian world.

Also on my resume my only job experience is the military since I joined out of highschool. Anything I did in highschool was just work for others here and there and nothing official.

!!! Reading this post gave me a brilliant idea. What you just did was identify your interests and your skills. You can make both of these work for you!

Why don't you consider starting a business fixing people's computers or even just speeding them up(plenty of people want their slow computers to go faster).

I don't know if you need a small business license but I'm sure you can start fixing without one yet.

You can go into Microsoft word, print some sales flyers advertising your PC fixing services and hang them on neighborhood door knobs and town/city poles. Go to local businesses that have ad billboards and put up a flyer or business card size ad for your PC fixing services.

Call up local businesses and ask the owners/managers if their computer is as fast as they like. Offer a free consultation to come in and see if their computer could use any upgrades or tweaking. Keep the cold calls simple and short but make sure you offer the benefits of your service and how it could help them increase sales. There are plenty of warriors here who specialize in this. I'm brand new so this is just an idea.

You can go on Craigslist and post up ads for your PC fixing service. You could even make a blog talking about the various computers you have fixed, what type of problems they have and how you made them better. Make sure to specify how readers can contact you so you can expand your network of potential clients.

The point here is that you have already discovered a niche and if you are good enough you can turn it into a profitable business. Don't give up on yourself. If you made it through the military you can definitely make it through this.

You'll also need a great CV

    Josh,

    First, I appreciate your service.

"We sleep safely at night because rough men stand ready to visit violence on those who would harm us." - George Orwell

What area of the US are you in? Never mind I just saw TN. Where in TN? I have a few jobs going on down there through my regular job that I could see if we need a helper

I'd be willing to talk to you via email or something about commission as Payoman was saying.

I also have an amazon affiliate site that I don't have the discipline to write reviews for products. I will give it to you if you'd like. Its not making money right now, but I can show you how to post reviews for products that people are searching for. I lost interest in it and was planning on selling it.

Additionally, post up your skills. Set up an account on Fiver, check out the forums. People are looking to hire all the time. You won't lose your unemployment by doing things like this.

I will PM you my email.

    File an LLC
Now, all the money comes into the LLC.
The LLC can help pay some of your bills.

Whne you have enough cash in the LLC, walk away from

You try this because this is how i got work for my construction business. Go on craigslist to the service section or job wanted section. People in the skilled trade or labor section actually request at home labor jobs to do stuff around the house and most or all these people will pay you cash. If you are desperate, than I recommend to look at these types of jobs or post in the labor section on craigslist section that you are willing to clean, or do odd jobs. I know it sucks, but it is money. I did this strategy in college and I got plenty of work. Just post what jobs you can do for people and look for jobs you can call for.

There seems to be some good intentioned advice for you Josh but there is also some really retarded advice as well.

The first thing you need to do is clear your head.
A clear mind will go much further than a clouded one.

Secondly never ever make a business decision out of desperation.
You will not make the correct decision.

You and only you are going to figure out how to get yourself out of this mess.

P.S. You said.... "Alot of bills where put in my name by my mother when I was younger."

No offense brother but you mother is part of this problem, not you.
As a father of two I would never do that to my kids.
