What would YOU say in this situation?

We seem to be getting our best SEO clients at the moment from decent size marketing agencies in our area.

So my plan over the next few weeks is to make some calls to other Marketing Companies to build more relationships.

One thing I do know is that these companies will be inundated with requests to team up, so what's the best way to approach this?

    QUALIFY.

    Chris, you know this.

    Who do YOU want to work with?

    "We're looking for marketing company managers/owners/principles etc. who are:

    * frustrated with __________

    * concerned about ________

    * upset because __________."

    Fill in the blanks with the problems or symptoms of problems these people have been experiencing with other past and potential partners.

    Now that you have their attention,

    "But I'm not sure if you're experiencing any of these issues..."

    And let them tell you about whatever it is that's annoying them--which you can eliminate if they work with you.

    I dont know about the UK but not sure that local marketing companies in US are getting inundated with requests?

    Based on my experience, I found a very high percentage will be worried about you stealing their business or just plain ignorant to your offering.

    If I were going this route again , I would make it very , very easy for them to sell by preparing the sales material, including video, powerpoint, brochures, emails, or whatever you use to market. This is how most online JV programs work.

    That way its mostly just a matter of YOU pitching indirectly to THEIR clients while the marketing co. takes a commission off the top. Make it super easy to do business with you.

    Unless we know what special you bring to the table - it's difficult to tell exactly. But you can craft you rpitch based on - what's in it for them and why only you can offer that to them.

    If you offer some really good products/services, I don't see why companies will be overwhelmed with an offer to team up.

    If what you're offering is very beneficial to them then you can expect some good results to come from making those calls.

      True. Most people respond once they know and understand the benefits of your product/service.

    I'm a huge face to face kind of guy. If there is a chance to at all I would suggest making an appointment with them. Explain to them how by referring the SEO clients to you they are actually providing more value to their clients. And we all know happy clients mean more referrals.

    Good luck and let us know what you end up trying and if it works out!

    I had a deal like this with a video production company. Basically they made high end videos and some of the clients also wanted web work done. What they would do is put me in direct contact with the client (on some occasions depending on how complex the work was), I would only discuss pricing with the video production company and I would do the work.

    It was a win-win situation. I didn't take their clients or even talk to them about money and the clients were able to call me directly to get information and updates, so it was hands free for the video production company.
