Have you had luck generating leads for a Bail Bonds company?

I've been working with a friend of mine who is a bail bondsman and the problem I run into is that bail bondsman can not give discounts because the prices are regulated and usually when the get a call it's from someone already in jail looking a list that the jail provides. The list goes on a monthly rotation as to who is on the top of the list.

There is not much of a search volume for the services in terms of google.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance Warriors!!

  • Hey, is that like when you narc on someone... causing them to get arrested, and
then to call the bail bondsman to let him know the guy needs to be bailed out
and when that happens I get a commission so I can go fishin?

Just curious how one would recruit "leads" for a bail company.
  • I am semi joking, and semi serious.

Why not make a bunch of beer coasters made with the bail bondsman's
info on it, then distribute for free to all the (seedy) bars.

    just a thought.

    • Ken,

We used coasters as well as armbands in clubs but they are not that effective.
      Thanks for your input!
  • May as well have the local heavy metal band be sponsored by the bail bond company and offer a discount if you get busted and you are a fan of the heavy metal band!
  • Pay inmates to write your name and number all over the walls in jail.

When people go to jail, the first thing they need is a bondsman, and the first place they get it is off the walls... graffiti .

I once had a bondsman tell me that he got more business off of graffiti written on cell block walls than any other advertising stream, when I approached him about a website..

    • Well, there's the business opportunity...

Just go slap a cop, he'll put you in the pokey, and write your bail guy's phone number all over the place and do some one on one sales sessions with inmates about why your bail guy is better... and make commissions.

      But wait, there's more!

Sign up today and you get free room and board, plus free meals!

    • John,

Thanks but I don't want to get people into more trouble for writing on the walls. Cameras are everywhere.

    • This was in The Lincoln Lawyer.

    • Hahaha while this is funny there is no need to do this. Jails usually have a directory of for you to call. This is actually where we get most of our leads. Other then that we run some PPC campaigns and SEO to target families looking to bail a loved one out of jail. Business is booming!
  • We work with a local bondsman, they offer 10% off on their business cards and with referrals, they also do a free or reduced last payment. We have major competition here.

If your bondsman says he can't, it's because he chooses not to, doesn't have much competition, or because you haven't suggested it to him in the right way.

    • Hi Mwind076,

Thanks for the info! Has this been real successful for you?
I will let my bondsman know that this is possible.
I wish there was more that I could do for him.

  • I would think that the first one that answers the phone is going to get most of the business...I wouldn't think comparison shopping is really high on anyone's list when looking for a bail bondsman, either
  • I worked in the bail bonds industry for 3 years before I burned out on it. By far, our greatest source of leads came from the bondsman sheet that the county posted by the phones inside the jail. It was a truly captive audience!

We also got a lot of referrals from networking with pastors and clergy, believe it or not.

When a family member got into trouble, and someone didn't know where to turn, they would talk to a pastor, or member of their church who would then recommend us and we would work extra hard to help them out. (taking payments or lowering the cost for high riskers)

Where I was it is a heavily regulated industry and there wasn't a whole lot of lee-way for us to make deals.

    • Tonypilot7,

Thanks for the ideas! I would have never come up with those.

  • Hi there,

One reason might be the relatives of the inmate searching for a bondsman. Often the relatives are the ones who put up their houses etc as collateral for the bond.

Bail Bonds are one of those things you think you'll never need until you actually do need it. It would be very expensive to remain "top of mind" in a market like this, IMO

    All the best,

    Sasha

    • I've never been arrested, so I don't know how it all works! LOL! However, I do know that I could outrank the competition in a few cities. I'm just wondering if it's worth it from the prospective of trying to go for the site flip, or rental model. I have no clue what a call for a bail bond would even be worth.

Guess, I'll just have to try it and find out.
  • Bondsman business is really a very good business. I just want to start that business in Miami Florida. Bondsman work like God for victims to release from jail.
