Distribution Deals And Product Placement

Anyone have any experience with this?

I've done it before on a different level with book endorsements in things like that but this is a completely different type of thing that I might be going after.

I've got a company that was featured on an international version of shark tank... very specific product, quite relevant to several things going on in Hollywood right now and several major story lines on network TV... due to ironic personal use for years... I know the baseline product in and out and why their variation is better from any other competitor on the market...

Company is asking me for help, because a previous deal fell through... and unfortunately their distribution deals for part of the country were tied up within that as well.

I'm 99 percent sure who I would need to target, to get the ball rolling for them...I'm just not sure how to approach it... or what to say when I'm talking to the big wigs who makes these kinds of decisions.

Any help is appreciated.

    Your post is a little vague to give any sort of specific advice. Can you give some idea of at least what kind of product this is? Are we talking consumer electronic, food or ???

    A type of innovative durable medical equipment. Niche, but essential and sought after by the population who uses it.

    Ok. So are you asking for advice on how to get into distribution companies that you will supply the product to or are you looking to license it to someone for them to manufacture on their own?

    The product is already being produced. They are seeking distribution channels in the US...for example..adaptive ski programs..and retailers.

    If I wanted to buy them now I would have to fly to Vancouver... and go to their store front...or order them online... ordering online is not preferable because there is a customization aspect..

    they are also seeking product placement deals within the entertainment realm.

    They were working on having their product featured in a TV show, where one of the actors uses what they produce as a part of his characterization... but it fell through just before all the ends were tied up.

    Is this something that would demo well on home shopping channels? I really am unclear what the product is. There are brokers that have strong relationships with home shopping channels that can walk you in and get your product in front of them. That may be one avenue to pursue. Trade shows are a great place to get in front of buyers. Either get a booth or go to their booths and get the names and introductions to the guys you are targeting. If it's that innovative of a product then they should be more than happy to meet with you. Also, I would recommend you get a lawyer and paperwork in place if you are just going to be representing the product so you don't get cut out of the deal down the road if you are doing all this biz dev work.
