How Can I Sell My Information Product Using Local Newspaper?

I will like to use an off-line newspaper to advertise and sell my new information product on weight loss niche. And the information is targeted to my country audience.

I'm thinking of using the classified advert space and i don't know if i should sell directly from the advert? or i should collect contact first. But i'm somehow afraid as they may not buy my main information, if i give some of the stuff free to them. How can i do this.

    Use the classified ad to generate a lead to send your direct mail offer.

    To sell directly, use a display ad that tells everything a sane person would need to know before they give you money.

      You made a point here. The size of the classified ad looks like the size of credit card and may not contain all my sells content.

      But what will i offer free in exchange of opt-in, as my product is on weight loss without exercise.

        Not an opt-in. They either call a toll free number to a recorded message, or send for a "Free report", which is your sales letter.

        Give options. A phone number, a website, mail in for a free report. Any two will work.

          The following is the "BluePrint" I've used to sell hundreds of products and reports and programs since 1985;

          1) Display Ad - "FREE Recorded Message reveals how to ______ Dial 555-1234 x 123" (I have NEVER offered 800 numbers. If they are not enough interested to pay for a phone call, they are not a "prospect")

          2) Voice Mail - 2min outgoing message spells out a few more benefits and Main Goal is to get callers to "Leave Their Name & Mailing Address" or....nowadays, tell them to go to a website where they must "sign in" before being allowed to see "Sales Material".

          I call this "Funnelizing".

    Many local newspapers run "advertorials", where the ad layout and copy looks like a newspaper article and contains lots of educational information vs. just a promo or a pitch.

    You even see it in services businesses (financial planning comes to mind).
