Best Online Marketing Option For Retailer Client

Hi Everyone,

I have a client that has an e-Commerce site that retails in selling high-end dress shoes for men.

I am trying to brainstorm on the best method he can advertise his business online.

I am trying to suggest either Adwords or Facebook marketing.

What are your suggestions in terms of retail?

I would suggest researching where the target market he is trying to reach hangs out and getting the message out there. Adwords and/or Facebook could be good if you target it right.

I would look at communities and sites in the geo area that have visitors who would buy his products.

When shoppers go online looking for the best place to buy shoes, do they go to Facebook?

No. They do a Google search. Use website & videos to dominate the first page. That will impress them. And that's what brings in the buyers.

I own a retail store. I speak from experience.

What if they're not stars? What if they are holes poked in the top of a container so we can breath?

    What about a groupon offer
or a coupon offer via social shopping sites like -

    1. Kaboodle.com
    2. Thisnext.com
    3. stylehive.com
    4. stylefeeder.com
    5. wists.com
    6. iliketotallyloveit.com
    7. wishlistr.com

Put a coupon offer on a page in each of them and pull customers to your store
or place an offer in them and even better one or upsell/cross sell offer on your
    retail site.

Involved fashion students from colleges/unis to comment on your blog or review
some of your products in your shop

Pinterest as well could be a good idea too

    hope that helps...

Are the high-end dress shoes from known brands or custom made?

You should be looking at Google Merchant Center if they are from reputable brands, since if someone is searching for the specific product - they may well want to compare prices and/or geographical location through Google's Shopping features.

Adwords would be a good bet. When you search the important keywords for your client - are the big competitors showing up here? What sort of monthly budget does your client have for this?

You should also look at SEO on a manufacturer and product level (as well as on your main keywords). You can often find that on a product or manufacturer basis, your competition level is quite low and thus you can score some easy low hanging fruit that will build confidence and trust with your client - allowing him to look at more engaging marketing plans as you progress.

As per Claude, I feel Facebook would be a huge waste of time, money and resources.
