Heard Stansberry's crazy effective radio spot

"Obama's Third Term"

It aired on a large FM Talk station (:60) in my area, and
drove people to:

Stansberry's Investment Advisory

The landing page is a VSL that's a case study in direct response.

Close the page and there's a OTO and DSO that appear also.

Warriors, this isn't fancy graphics and heavy images, but study
how GOOD the copy is.

  • Interesting and targeted message.

Bit long for my tastes but not sure how the targeted audience would react.

    • It is very hard to assess an ad like this with an unbiased point of view.

I can imagine it would fire up and already smoldering conservative target
market. It seems like it is overkill by continually pressing. Too much of this
can backfire on an ad... I'd love to see the results of the piece.

  • Stansberry and Associates have long been known for their hype and let's just say exaggeration. If you want to decipher any of his BS, go to stockgumshoe.com and put the title of Stansberry's latest piece of hype in the site's search box and Travis will explain it.

As for the quality of their ad copy, well, that leaves a lot to be argued. It is almost always very long and if you listen or read it you can catch contradictions. In fact, his entire empire is one contradictory NL after another.

In one he tells you to get out of the market while in another he tells you why you should be in the market.

Truth is, he makes up quite a bit of stuff. Some people on this forum would frown on the way he over extends his publisher's license.

I subscribe to one that is $5 a month. That is all this group of hypesters is worth IMHO.

Since becoming a member I have made a few hundred dollars off a particular stock they detailed. Interestingly enough it was off the stock's options and not the stock itself.

If you know how to cross check what S&A puts out and you aren't afraid of options, you can usually make a few bucks. That is how I made the moola off one of their recommendations.

Another guy who writes decent copy is Bernie Schaeffer. He is a guru in the options arena and has made a very handsome living off his numerous publications. Don't limit yourself to S&A. Look at Cabot Wealth also. Lutts does a good job of writing as well.

I think I just overstayed my welcome but had to put in my 2ยข...

    • Or is it just *good* direct response marketing?

  • I too saw the ad on Drudge. No doubt that the caption caught the attention of those of us who did not like the results from the recent election.

Smart marketing on their behalf. However, I did not listen to the full audio.
