Spirit of Offline: Businesses You Can Start Without Using A Computer & On A Shoestring Budget?

I damaged my laptop recently and the days that I didn't have access to
the internet made me think.

I tried to come up with ideas for starting a business with little money, and doesn't
require use of the internet.

Sadly, I came up with few ideas; the ones I thought of weren't at all spectacular.

For instance, I'm in Minnesota. Lots of snow.

1. Snow removal instantly came to mind.
2. A flyer distribution service.

What else can you think of?
And remember: no computer and on a shoestring budget with very little resources.

I know it's difficult without knowing one's skills and resources.

But just throw out ideas based on your own experience or what you
think is possible based on the criteria.

This may help, at least, one person more than you may think.

And no, I'm not looking for ideas for an info product.

Looking forward to hearing your reponses.

Snow removal is big where I am at. Do you own a plow? Commercial contracts are really nice to have if you get a ton of snow. Other people I know would target one neighborhood and contract for $20 per storm, or $X per month. All their work was in one area, and they would blaze through it starting at 6, and be done mid morning.

95% of IM'ers have great relationships with clients who also advertise offline and with other people. Stop missing out on that cash and leverage into it. PM me if you are an established marketer and want to find out how.

A while ago someone shared the idea of going around with a Windows 7 CD and upgrading computers for local businesses.

I thought and easier money maker would be to go around and offer online backup of data. Just go to Sugarsync.com. They give 30 gigs for only $5 / month. You designate certain folders for auto-syncing to the cloud storage. It's great. You can probably find some sort of referral program they have, too and make yourself a little extra.

It would probably take an hour to do the work and talk to the owner, etc., so I think $50 would be reasonable.

All you need is access to THEIR computer and an internet connection.

Another thing that you can do, especially now, is hanging Christmas lights.

You posted your question online, so I'll assume you have some computer access. Do a Warrior Forum search for posts by Martin Buckley, he has some money making suggestions which don't require a computer.

Contact residential driveway plowers and do a deal to offer their customers front entry/stoop/sidewalk shoveling. Many just get their driveways done and plowers don't necessarily shovel the rest. People hate that and might even pay more for that than they do getting driveway plowed. You also have roof snow raking. It's very important to get some snow load off roofs especially for ice dams which cause quite a bit of damage.

You might be able to get neighborhood deals that way you aren't driving all over town for a driveway here and there. You could also contact neighborhood associations to do a deal, or Association management companies.

Can't ya tell I'm in MN as well? you betcha!
