Recommendations for a good free video editing software

Hey there -

I have a client that wants me to put them together a small video "commercial" for youtube. I normally would not want to do this, and mostly focus on web design, but for this client they have spent alot of money with me and thought I would give it a shot. I have three 15 second clips that I filmed for them, but would like to fuse them together into one video with some transitional text in between. Does anyone know of any good free editing tools out there that can do this?

Thanks,
Shaun

There is Windows Movie Maker or iMovie (?) ....
Depending on the type of computer you use.

You could try Video Editor - YouTube

A student of mine used it at a clients office to merge some clips together.

They shared it with the group and said it worked pretty well but I'm not sure exactly how much "editing" she did...

I have used Adobe suite for the longest time and now that you can get Adobe Cloud Suite for $29 a month it is worth looking into.

    Hi Shaun,

Probably the easiest way without you having to take time to actually learn the nuances of an editing tool and software is to use Animoto.com

The free windows movie maker if you have it is also decent way to go but I find Animoto gives a more pro appearance. Depending on the complexity of projects, and budget of client, determines what I use for local client videos. I also use Sony Vegas which is not free and has a steep learning curve but lots of features and options.

If you're short on time and would rather outsource the video feel free to PM me. I've done many promo videos, I know how to rank them on google and youtube, have a background in doing voice overs and of course write copy.

Video is where it's at especially for promoting local businesses. Clients get more bang for buck when they have a top ranking website and a video on page 1 of Goog.
