Do You Run a Restaurant? This restaurant I recently visited are awesome marketers!

I just thought I'd share this ...

I went to a new restaurant a few weeks ago that just opened up in my town. After ordering my food, they asked each person at my table if they would like to enter into their draw for a $100 gift card to their restaurant, which would be announced through their email newsletter. Naturally, everyone signed up by filling out a small piece of paper that asked for our name and email.

I didn't win, but since then they have been sending emails almost daily with updates about the day's specials.

Now that is what I call effective email marketing. It's a shame that this is the first and only restaurant that I've seen implement this method. The only thing I've seen close to this is large companies spending thousands or millions of dollars on Facebook campaigns to get some "likes".

If I ever open a restaurant, I'll surely be using this marketing strategy.
If you run a restaurant, you should, too! If you work in a restaurant, bringing this up with your manager should earn you some serious points!

    lovboa,

Thanks for the share. It's a shame that this simple thing can make a difference and yet most don't realize it.

    Peace,

I remember talking to a restaurant owner who collected biz cards in a fishbowl for free lunch drawings. I asked them what they did with the cards after each drawing.

They said they threw them away, I damn near had a stroke on the spot.

This is one of the services that I sell to local businesses. Email Marketing or an Autoresponder service to get people on thier newsletter then use that to drive traffic into their businesses.

Unfortunately or should I say fortunately it's not one of the most popular services to sell to business. Now it's all SEO, mobile sites, selling leads, reputation management, etc.

Interesting and a bit ironic since it was a post way back when called "A Stupidly Simple Cash Cow" by David Preston that lit the flame for Offline Marketing and the possibilities out there.

My local Indian does this. And it works! On Friday I was taking the girl out to celebrate. Was on my way to pick her up, and thinking about where to take her. When I got to hers I started checking my emails and I noticed an email from them about there Friday night deals.

      Sorted.

Thats who that was! I remembered it as being Andrew Cavanagh.

One day I was at my office monitoring the TM's and reading the WF.... and I came across that thread and I was like "Wow, they have a word for what we do....; Offline Marketing".

It was the first offline marketing thread I'd ever seen.

Thanks for the reminder. So it wasnt Andrew Cavanagh I guess, like I have been going around saying for years.

No it was David Preston who done that thread, but Andrew Cavanagh was one of the first ones to come out with his WSO's Offline Gold and Offline Storefront.

    Both phenominal marketers though!

They have the right idea, but I think they are mailing to their list too often. I would say 1-2 times a week max so that people on your list do not unsubscribe when they feel like they are being spammed.
