    Not much of a hack.

It will only work if you have a real address in the city where you want the fake address. From there it is obvious as many businesses have a real address but also a PO BOX where the mail goes.

In time google will find a way to eliminate the fake pages.

Also this hack isn't useful for the vast majority of real businesses. A few like Realitor or such in large cities maybe. But there are much better ways to market clients like this vs. trying to game google places.

I created this video a while back, and it still works, except it won't work with a PO box. Google won't let you even type the words "po box" into line two.

But it still works great with regular, non PO box addresses.

Also, I disagree with Aaron, I have these types of listings out there and they have been fine for a long time. In fact, the live case study from a couple years ago that I used in my google plus local course using a similar technique still has a business sitting on the first page of google, untouched! Anyone who has my course can see it with their own eyes, just by typing the term into google.

There are a lot of reasons to use a technique like this. As any local consultant here will agree, it is sometimes really difficult to get your plus local pgs verified for clients. Or you can use this to gain you or your client an address in the city center, which is still a large percentage of the ranking algo.

Few days ago I used their option for support telephone call - you leave a number, their machine calls you, you type number 1 to talk with google representative and explain to him why you can not receive postcard. In my case - and it's true - it was not possible to receive postcard since is stolen or somewhere "in the process" a long, long time. I have explained situation to him, and that I am trying 3 times to receive postcard, so representative approved it manually. Process is simple - he sent me email on gmail account connected to that page, I had to CC email of official website and to reply from that official email. That's it, after 30 minutes page was approved.

Can you let me know what you mean by this? "I had to CC email of official website and to reply from that official email."

CC stands for Carbon Copy of email, I had to send them email and to copy another, official email of the website and business that I had to register. After that I've sent them another email, from official email (that website domain).
Most important part is to make a request for google assistance; they call you, human is talking to you and actually listening what you have to say and if you sound legit he will help you. Also he is trying to be helpful because after the call you can give short review of his performance (did he helped you, did he knew all the answers, etc) and he will do an extra step to prove himself and get better rating.

I think you misunderstood this thread, this is about creating google plus local listings that get verified by GOOGLE, not about verifying addresses myself

Seems risky but for some people the risk is worth it.

  • I wouldn't do it. It's just a waste of time. Been there done that

I already profit from a similar technique, not a waste of time at all. My main question is if this postcard hack the OP posted still works.

for me, it is totally worth it.

    • Trust me when I say Google is closing a lot of loopholes that worked in the past.

You may be willing to take a risk on certain black hat tactics if you are trying to game the system with your own rent-a-site model or something. If it goes south you only hurt yourself

But I sure would not risk a clients existing ranking, by using black hat tactics that blatantly violate the guidelines.

I'm not talking about client sites, I'm talking about leadgen. But anyway doesn't seem that anyone has actually tested the OP's technique. I was hoping for a shortcut but I'll have to just test it myself
