Payment question to UK offliners

Hey guys,

Just got off the phone to my bank (business account) and they said that the only way for me to take payments for my services will be through standing order.

They forwarded me onto their department that deals with setting up taking credit cards payments through a terminal etc and they said becuase i offer SEO they cant offer me an account. This is due to previously problomatic chargebacks from poor service companies.

So how do you guys take recurring payments in a professional way? I would like to avoid standing order as i need to know the clients cant just cancel when they feel.

    They can cancel whenever they feel like it anyway. SO, DD, off card etc you shouldn't be worrying about that.

    Scout around these sites and call on Monday.

      Good man Jimbo, thank you so much for answering.

      Good tip in not letting them know and LOL at Lingo. It just kind of stunned me that they wouldnt allow SEO services!! Our industry must have some seriously shady characters.

        Our clients pay us in the following ways:

        1) Cash or Cheque
        2) Direct Debit - Jim made a good suggestion for you here
        3) Standing Order
        4) Direct Bank Transfers
        5) Paypal (Do not like using it but do when clients insist on paying by credit/debit card)

        From USA Clients

        1) Paypal
        2) SWIFT bank transfer (For this we have a US Dollar Account with our UK Bank which avoids us suffering from exchange rate losses)

        Overall we stay away from merchant facilities. In all honesty they really are problematic.
