Ive been in sales for 10+ years, I'll answer any questions you have...

I have been doing sales pretty much since I left school and now in my 30's I run a business from home. I'm doing well for myself and a lot of my success came from being able to pick up the phone and call people (in the UK)

I'll answer any questions you have, give advice, work on your hook anything really.

Cheers

Well Nameless I am going to assume the following.
      1. This person has a business that could benefit from a website.
      2. You want to make money.

So how do you sell the Amish Businessman a website? You don't.

You sell him leads or buy his product wholesale and sell it it yourself through the website you will build.

Selling Amish made is great for business. Jayco and serveral RV manufacturer's really push how such and such percentage of their workers are Amish.

Also Amish people will drive fork trucks and use power tools while working for someone else.

Off topic: Seeing all the buggies on the roads is cool when you visit those area. I still remember my first time seeing the Amish use a McD's drivethru. But horse crap on the roads sucks.

I would think they are Mennonites, not strict Amish.
Too many people confuse the two.

No these are Amish people. Once you are in the RV industry you learn a whole lot of things about the Amish you were taught is wrong.

If you ever get a chance try to get a line tour (think they still offer them publicly) for the Jayco Jay Flight line(main line, at times there are 2 or 3 jay flight lines running). Last I knew that line had the highest percentage of Amish workers in the industry. It was also the fastest line in the industry and had the highest average tenure.

If you have ever been to a union factory line (myself Corvette and John Deere among a few others) you will be amazed by the speed of the RV lines. Those guys work their asses off and get paid well. The speed difference between the workers at your classic factory jobs vs. the RV industry is crazy.

And it does come down to the idea of the "Amish Mafia". If a new guy can't keep up they will do everything they can to make him quite.

In fact the difference in work speed you get from the Amish workers vs. normal factory workers is one reason the RV products that come out of the North West (Idaho/etc) are more expensive. The line speeds are sometime half what the Indiana plants are.

So tip to anyone who want to start a factory. Build it near Amish areas and hire the Amish. Your output will be way higher. Northern Indiana is a factory owner's dream.

I saw an ad for a new reality show: The Amish Mafia. Premieres this month I think. We have directv so if you have something else maybe you didn't see it. That's how you sell a website to an Amish person.

I forgot about this new show until I read Aaron's post.

Now why would I associate Aaron and Mafia? Hmmm...

Cheers thanks mate, I'm always looking at new ways to improve on my sales so share away.

A lot of negativity here, I literally noticed a lot of new guys/gals starting out not knowing how to start on here so thought I'd offer some advice.

      Is this not the place?

Too many people show up here touting their mettle and expertise,
only to be found out they are great BS artists.

That being the case, is why sarcasm has reigned supreme in this thread.

Being in sales 10+ years might qualify you as a mere pup to many around here,
but hey, any and all legitimate help is always welcomed in my book.

No more than some light hearted fun, and a play on your words read nothing into it. All people regardless of age or past knowledge / level of experience are open to learning. Sure you will help many.

Sometimes wit and irony seem to get lost around here but........please keep it coming.

OP....it may have been better if you'd gone through every post requesting sales help and come up with truly useful answers, yes I know you may have done that already and no I haven't checked but honestly, you'd have got a much better reception that way.

I also agree that any offer of help should be welcomed..........just accept the witty comments and irony for what they are.

    Cheers

Good feedback Ill have a butchers round to see if I can help. Not claiming to be an expert far from it, I feel if you're not learning something then you're hanging around with the wrong people hence why I like to come to this site. Mostly as a lurker but decided to start posting.

      Cheers

Not a bad response ... not at all, as long as you aren't a husker, you will fit
in the offline section quite well.

IAM was most likely joking, i thought it was funny and laughed, so i thanked him.

With that said in the offline section we pretty much police ourselves,
and a lot of ...uhmm "near do wells" come through here, coincidentally
their opening salvo is often the same as yours was.
