How Do I Go About Doing SEO Services?

I got a client who wants to change her website design and has also asked about doing SEO for her. Even though I have some SEO experience, I'm not sure how to go about charging her and what kind of service to provide.

Also, how are results measured and do clients want to track results?

Wow that is a whole business plan you are asking for :-)
Too keep it short I would recommend is finding a good SEO provider who can do the work for you. Then charge enough to pay them and pay yourself. (Search for Matt LaClear on this forum for a good provider.)

To track results it is fairly simple. You need to pick the keywords you will rank for and then use a tracking program to track the progress. A few of my favorites are Microsite masters and SEO profiler. BrightLocal is also a good one for offline businesses.

Prices can range for as low as $100 for low competition keywords up to thousands of dollars a month. I recommend shooting for at lest $500 per month for any type of competitive keyword to make it worth your while.

I would definitely outsource the work if I were you. There are tons of affordable and reliable SEO services on this forum. Of course, the prices are going to vary greatly on what keywords she's targeting, and the nature of the website. Do your research and determine if this is something you can handle before having her cut the check.

I see so many low quality services out there that give you a "sugar rush" followed by a natural linking penalty. What this can mean you have a business that can never grow because you can't keep customers for long.

Focusing on content and engaging with important sites that can provide links is far better.

Thanks for the reply guys. Do you guys know which SEO outsourcers are reliable?

I am actually not very confident about doing the SEO work as I am not sure what will happen if there no results. What other online marketing methods are more doable? such as mobile, apps, social media etc?

Outsourcing it the first time would not be recommended. You do not know whether it will benefit or harm the SEO. Try doing it yourself for the first time, if you are comfortable.

Can anyone suggest a good "SEO service" WSO? I've had a few local companies ask about SEO but I have no experience doing it so I told them I couldn't do it.

If you're not sure about your seo work, about things that you need to do to improve seo, you can check Tutor SEO Services.

The point is that you can get detailed seo analyze in a white label pdf report. In that way you will see what are the things that should be done and how. It can help you in your work a lot especially if you are a new at seo.

If you have to ask like this then you are right not to offer it, most professional SEO suppliers are struggling to come up with a strategy at the moment, and these warrior forum companies and WSO sellers can't teach you how to do it effectively.

They will sell you links and promises but that's it.

It is simply not smart to "build" a backlink these days, you may rank for a short time but it'll bite you in the ass (do you want to explain that to your clients?)

If I were you I'd offer it as a traffic generation system, outsource content creation and distribution if you can't do it yourself, just get the right content in front of the right people and let them come to your site. Social media and content aggregators are your best friend if you are not experienced with real SEO. Your clients want sales, targeted traffic will bring sales.

These shitty SEO companies and WSO's are fine for niche sites and affiliate stuff but please do not ever hire one or use their advice on a clients site. If they could do SEO effectively they wouldn't be wasting time writing reports and offering services here.

    Hey Mike,
I outsource SEO all the time and it's my main biz now. As of this posting you've probably made a decision, but for the next time you find yourself in the same situation... I suggest you call up private label SEO resellers. Then, explain to them the situation you're in and (this is important) explain exactly what the client wants done within the time frame.

The backend provider I use assigns a direct contact person so I talk to a real human being and I sometimes ask about the pricing. Don't worry too much about it. As long as you mark up the provider's price, there's no way you can lose in a reseller deal.

But, like I said, clarify with the client exactly what he wants within a timeframe before communicating with the provider. Losses in SEO reselling stem from additional services you need to pay for because the client wasn't clear with the results he needs. But do this and you can resell SEO with ease (especially because you have an SEO background and can evaluate their services).

As for the tracking and reporting, they have a dashboard. I give clients limited access and they see the reports about their campaigns. Just ask the provider about a reporting dashboard before you subscribe. It will make your life so much easier. Hope this helps.

    Best of luck,
    Rick
