      Mike; Describe your seminar.
      Are you going to teach business owners how to advertise their business online?
      Are you going to show people how to start an online business?
      Are they going to be your affiliates?
      Do you want to speak to groups that already exist?
      Do you want to gather your own groups?

      The answers to these questions will help to make any recommendation more applicable.

        Basically a seminar that shows people how to make money online through various methods such as affiliate marketing. This seminar will be geared toward beginners. So basically yes I will be showing people how to start an online business.
        No they will not be affiliates.
        Yes I wouldnt mind speaking to groups that already exist.
        Yes I would love to gather my own groups

          Mike;

          Talk to Chamber of commerce groups, and offer free tickets to hear you speak.
          Talk to church groups, about making money online.
          Talk to any local business meeting. Not Toastmasters, as they won't let you sell.

          You aren't talking to business groups. You are talking to anyone.
          You need a presentation that makes it brain dead obvious that this business is easy and anyone can do it.
          You need success stories. Real ones. Your own story will help. But a few people that took your advice and made money is a great help. Get them to give you testimonials.

          You may want to contact a company that already gives seminars of this type. Get on their list. Use their marketing materials for ideas. Get them to hire you as a speaker. The experience will be invaluable.

          This is my best advice.

          Most people..really really really don't want to give seminars. They want to think about giving seminars. Most people can't handle a drunk in their audience. Most people can't handle objections from a smart-ass in the audience. And the vast majority don't know how to sell well enough to make it pay.

          You may find that you can't stand speaking to a group, after your first time. That's why you want to work for a company that puts on seminars first. Just to see if you can stand the grind.

          And the guys that say "Go for it! You can do it! Just keep a positive attitude!"
          Aren't making money.

          This is serious business. And the reason I don't sound like a cheering section...is that I have real experience doing this, and I have nothing to sell you. (Not that there is anything wrong with that)

          Mike, from your comment you are going after those who are interested in a business opportunity.

          These people need to be marketed differently to those who have an existing offline business.

          Before I go on, can you confirm which group your want to speak to?

          Best,
          Ewen

    * Blog about it
    * Tweet about it
    * Update your Linkedin status and appropriate linkedin GROUPS about it
    * Add a flyer on Slideshare about it
    * Email your list (and include an announcement in yoru ezine/newsletter)
    * Tell your local chamber of commerce, small business club & industry association
    * use Event brite
    * Use linkedin events or ecademy.com events to promote it
    * Create a press release and post on prweb.com, prlog too
    * Create a VIDEO about and add the date of the event in the title to get spidered easily

    There may be some other things you might need to consider as well.

    Hope this checklist helps, and gets you thinking...

    I ran my first workshop this past Thursday and...had a blast!

    Now, I am NOT a public speaker and have never done it before. I stumble at my networking meetings with my elevator pitch. I have heard about seminars and after Ewen Mack posted a thread a few weeks back I really started reading up on it. I bought a few courses, listened to hours of interview and watched a ton of YouTube video (study stage presence).

    My main goal for this workshop was to just do it! I wasn't looking to pick up any clients or make money. It was to conquer a fear.

    My Results

    I didn't start marketing it until Monday and had 2 people show up. I was a bit disappointed at first, but then got thinking about it, and remembered my main objective (just doing it)

    How I Marketed It

    I have a small local list that I emailed a few times, posted ads on Craigslist (events section) and posted on LinkedIn. I was really only aiming to have 5 or 6 show up as this was my first one. I did get 5 people to sign up (added to A/R).

    Partner Up

    I have my second one lined up for January 10th. I am partnering up with a financial planner and we are running it at her office. Also, she is going to market it for me as he is inviting her clients. Nothing big, she has room for 10-12 which is fine with me.

    I also reached out to a non-profit the other day on LinkedIn. Now, I have met the founders before and do volunteer for the charity so it wasn't a cold contact. I asked if he'd like to JV and offer a workshop where we charge $97 (they keep 100% of the profits). They will supply the room and market the event for me. He absolutely loved the idea. I plan to reach out to a few other non-profits after the first of the year. I have also contacted a few local associations about offering workshops for their members.

    I see such potential in this and will probably be reaching out to Claude for more advice, as you can see, he has a ton of experience and does a great job on stage.

    I have successfully conducted Live internet marketing seminars before, the last one I charged 200 usd per attendant and I focused in Middle sized companies main CEO's and Executives. It was total success

    I had a couple good looking smart ladies to visit this people offices, with a fancy invitation in their hands to the event, had a few others given away at local radio shows, and was interviewed at the Local TV station after the News

    I had 100 attendants x 200 usd each, after all expenses I guess I made a nice chunk of cash after the Hotel, ladies and more related expenses, About the Execs they all loved the event and the info they gathered.

    Feel free to PM me if you need further guidance.

    Just like any other business.

    1) Write down your competitors. Figure out ten other people who are doing what you want to do. Then figure out how you can be unique.
    2) Chase these competitors. Figure out what types of marketing they are doing. Create a detailed chart of every product, event, and advertisement they are doing.
    3) Write down the questions your target market is asking. What services do they need?
    4) Create products (events, whatever) to meet these needs. Look at your competitors products and see how you can adopt them but make them unique to you.
    5) Figure out where those types of people put their eyeballs. It could be Facebook, Adwords, Craigslist, the local papers, chamber of commerce newsletters, radio ads (ears), flyers, etc..etc..
    6) Advertise in those places and start building a list. Use your list to sell them into your seminar or your products.

    You might find it a hard sell these days. It's been done to death I.M.H.O. Pre 2005 was that time.

    Hey, Dont get discouraged. The methods might have been used before, but just think clearly and see if you can add some "spin" to make it a bit interesting. All the best.

    Here's what I would do:

    Facebook: Target people that live in your city. Target 28-45 (this should probably be tested though). Send them to a Page within FB (lead capture) with a video, explaining what you're doing, what the event is, who you are and where they can register.

    Google Display Network: Create banners and target a 5-10mile radius around the event location - do the same as above.

    Craigslist: Promote in the events, classes and discussions. Send people to a phone number with a recording to either push 1 after recorded message or go to website. Also you can send people direct to you lead capture page.

    ...that's how I would do it.
