Hi Everyone,

I have a client (a martial arts school) and the owner is going to be having a tournament in April 2013.

I have been asked to help promote this event online in order to get as many participants as possible.

Was wondering if any of you have promoted something like this before and what methods you would recommend.

Thanks in Advance!!!!!!!!

If he is looking for fighters, I would target other schools. My martial
arts school has a facebook page. The have more than 800 subscribed.

You may want to ask permission out of respect before posting anything.

Find out all the other businesses that would benefit from being involved who want to have a stake in such a tournament. This can lead to advertising opportunities and offering just a few of them to be key sponsors. Of course you'd impress on them that any key sponsor would be expected to play a full part in promoting the tournament on their on-line and/or at their physical place of business.

Social Media would be the best to promote this and local schools.

I think it's far more simple than anything posted above...

Google "martial arts (city name)" without the quotation marks.
Send a flyer and sign up form to each of the listings you find in
the area you're googling. Follow up with a phone call. You should be
able to fill the thing up in a day or two. Then focus on sponsorship
    and advertising to maximize revenue.

Yes... put up a facebook fan page if you like... couldn't hurt... but
do what I said and you'll get great results... assuming your guy has
a decent reputation among his peers.
