I want to be able to let my clients see the call they are getting, what is the best way to do this?

you could always try the free route and use google voice, forward the number, then you at least know who called and how many times.. as for a paid service I would also like some feedback on this

    Define "call they are getting."

Are you a cold caller/call center and you want to record all your calls so they can hear them?

Do you want them to SEE how many dials you do?

Are you in some other business and you want to allow your clients to hear their call with you (like mentoring or coaching)?

I am starting an online lead generation company for small businesses.
I will be building a website, getting it ranked, and sending them customers.
I would like to have some software that is not expensive that I could generate a new phone # for every client I sign up. After they start to receive calls from the online marketing I do for them they can log in and see how many calls.
Preferably something white label, since I will be offering this as a service.
I would like it if they could log in from something like a sub-domain to their site (calls.theirwebsite.com) - something like that.
It needs to be super simple for my clients.

Ideally I would like something that would generate a number that I could forward to their business number. I will be using this number on anything I do online for them. They could log in and see how many calls they get from my company, and it would be great if the same software could track website visitors. Would love to hear what others are using and their experience with that software.

Yes, Analytic Call tracking does everything you want and more. One time fee $197. Manage multiple phone numbers for multiple companies. Tracks and records calls. Your clients can login and listen to the calls. Requires Twillio account to use, phone numbers cost $1 per month and a penny a minute. Here's the link ( not an affiliate link):

I use CallFire for all lead tracking.

You can get a local number for any location, track the number of calls, forward the number to any number you like (and change that number it is forwarded to with a couple of clicks) record the calls, measure the length of the call and lots more.

It also lets you generate a nice report you can send to your client each month if you sell the leads individually.

$1 a month for the number and .05 a minute for the calls. It does everything you need.

I use: Call Tracking Metrics | Dynamic Call Tracking & Analytics Software Service in the US and Canada

These guys are great. I use them for every single client of mine. Also, amongst the many features, like rotating the phone numbers are your website based on lead source, you can setup "Whispering" so that when a lead call comes through, it will say a tiny message before the call is actually connected, like "Online Lead from ABC Leads".

Twilio is great, and you can get free call tracking software to use with it on Github. Not a bad idea to record the calls either. That way you can prove everything. Before connecting, just say "this call may be recorded for quality purposes"

A quick question regarding this method. Are you guys charging the client for each phone call? or just recording for the sole purpose of proving worth? Or tracking for new clients, if the current one falls through (i.e. on a flat monthly rate).

Freespee is popular in Europe, as we provide the largest variety of phone numbers across many countries - we do have numbers available in U.S. as well.

What's also great that in most markets you can test the service absolutely for free, using Javascript and tracking calls from smartphone visitors.

Have any of you who use call tracking on client websites seen any slippage in google local/maps? Of course NAP's citations are important there. So, my concern, for local businesses, would be that taking their phone number off their site might cause nap problems??? any feedback on this issue appreciate. thanks

If you change the number, you have to change it everywhere.
On the site, in the citations, in the videos, everywhere.

Otherwise, you would just place it in the footer.
Then, use an image of the tracking number through out the site.
This way, you still have the actual number, but have a dominant tracking number in place as well.

    Hope that makes sense.

I use a live receptionist service who takes names of all callers and then patches calls through to my clients. I need to have names recorded for tracking sales on which I earn commissions.

If you just need to track call volume/tel numbers, go with a software provider because it's cheaper.

May I ask which receptionist service you use?

        Thanks guys, got it.

Only remaining problem is inability to track calls when people simply see the phone number listed in google local or wherever (which would be the "real" phone number) -- and thus i'd be unable to track that call. and, i think, especially with mobile more and more calls are like that

i wonder if better to convince business owner to get a voip system and encourage employees, etc to use a different number to call the office -- so that most remaining calls would be from the website.

        i dunno....
