Offline marketing: if done properly it fills your coffers to the brim.

Online marketing: if done properly it fills your coffers to the brim.

Honest to God. Cross my heart too.

it of course depends on the tyoe of person you are but for me offline is way harder and much more of a slog than with online, with online if you learn it well you can have much more success

Both businesses have their ups and downs.

In regards to "Online Marketing"....you're still going to have "customer issues".... you'll still have to "sell" and put "systems" in place just as you would in your "Offline Business".......

    Bottom line,

Business is Business, do what you like

I've done both, and had a lot of successes and failures at both. I don't think there is an answer to your question. They both have advantages and disadvantages -- along with tons of variables, including your personality.

I think it's as hard to get people to a website and it is to a shop, and really depends on your aims.

Each Xmas, I sell self illustrated printed greetings cards depicting my town. I tend to market these offline because my demographic is the "senior" age bracket. Most of these people do not like mobile phones, so the idea of them perusing my work online is unlikely.

That's not to say their younger relatives cannot buy online for them, but for the most part I know offline works best for this type of customer - Specifically community word of mouth, posters in local shops, samples in charity shops, marketing freebies (printed mugs) in local coffee shops etc.

It's a question of which is the most suitable given your product, service, market etc

You have less competition offline. It is easier to standout but the next step is typically online. The minute you bring someone online they can go into comparison shopper mode.

Marketing is a combination of branding and response. Offline marketing is best for branding. Online marketing is best for response.

Neither or both. Really, it's all about how you use the tools and not the tools themselves. I am not sure what context you are asking the question in but my answer would have to be that while the two are different, they are both effective and have their own merits. Try reading this.
