[REVEALED] The Truth About What Local Business Owners Want To Know Many Will Never Know

This information is for you if you're tired of dreaming of making money by working with local businesses.

The first local business marketing event we conducted took place in mid-2008 and since then, the event has been delivered over 200 times to approximately 7,500 business owners across different target markets.

The figures, while the may look impressive aren't as important as being able to answer the questions...

Why Had They Come?
What Did They Want To Know?

That’s what I want to share with you in this implementation post so that you can focus on making money easier by giving your future and current offline customers and clients more of what they actually WANT.

I also want to help you wean yourself off of dream-destroying habits that seem ‘sexy’ to us marketers, but in reality, don’t serve you in achieving the dreams of financial freedom and personal achievement you have.

Finally, I want to share this with you because very few people will share this with you either because they don’t understand it themselves or unless there’s some financial gain involved, but if you’re not getting the results you want you need this information.

When I mention the word ‘event’ I’m referring to public seminars we’ve conducted as well as virtual events i.e. business seminars by phone and webinars. This is the way we’ve been able to host such a large number of events for so many people since 2008.

It doesn't matter where you are right now, I believe you too can do the same to if you...

Set Your Mind To It

What I’m about to share with you is the secret to making sure your business benefits for months and even years to come, from hosting these events either by yourself or in partnership with another., non-competing business.

Every event I’ve led started off in exactly the same way, i.e. by asking the question of the attendees. I call it the...

The Money Question:
“By the end of this event,
what do you want to know how to do?”

Having asked this question over 200 times, we now have a pretty good idea of the key local business marketing issues that business owners want to have sorted.

You’ll find encapsulated in this brief implementation guide the key questions. Use them how you deem fit to grow your offline consulting business. That’s my only requirement of you – can you do that?

At the simplest, the main themes that the business owners, across different target markets and niches wanted to know the answers to came under one of the headings which I’ve stated below.

The Money Making Themes
  1. Know what works?
  2. How to communicate and how to get heard?
  3. How to focus their marketing and how to target?
  4. How to measure (metrics)?
  5. How to stand out from the rest in their local business area and be listened to?
  6. How to make it happen?
Even though the main focus of my local business consulting is on high-paying professional service businesses, these represent the top themes that I focus on in all the activities we do because…

The Same Themes Kept Coming Through To Us

The best thing about this is that this is NOT based on what the most vocal marketers say in any offline marketing or IM forum. This is what I call ‘real-world business intelligence that makes you money.

To give you an idea of the top questions they were:
  • How do I get bigger business?
  • What works best?
  • What do people buy?
  • How can we make people buy from us?
  • How can we make people hire us for our services?
  • How do you get the ‘biggest bang for your buck’?
  • How do we know how we are doing?
  • How can we make more money?
  • How much should we invest in marketing?
  • If there’s only one thing we could do, then what should it be?
  • How can I sell more?
  • How can I get more customers?
  • How can I get more profitable customers?
  • How can I get my team to understand our marketing plan?
So what’s next?

You’ve just discovered the main themes and some of the questions that we use to determine what we offer to the local businesses we serve.

If you’re struggling to achieve the goals you’d like to achieve then I invite you to select any of these areas to focus on and you’re sure to get better and different results.

What you can do with this information is limited only by your imagination, but one of the things I’d consider doing if I were you is find as many business owners that you can ask the ‘Money Question.”

Got some experience of your own you'd like to share with others? Feel free to add it to the thread so we can make the recommendations as practical and easy to implement as possible.

If this information has helped you in any way, or if you have questions about what I've shared, just post below and I’ll do my best to help clarify for you.

Bayo, that's by far the most valuable post of yours I've read, thank you.

I can see a research briefing written on these subjects
and offered to the target audience.

Those who accept become warm leads.

    Best,
    Ewen

Wow, just wow Bayo. This post is golden.

I know you're not fond of cold calling based on previous post. However, I'm definitely going to incorporate some of these money questions into my calls as I create my problem solving, "how I help" type introductions for my cold calls.

    Again many thanks.

    Happy New Year to ya!

    Thanks for a terrific post.

The overriding theme in all of those questions seems to be the element of "tracking". The fact is that 99.9% of small business owners never know what REALLY works to bring them business. So, it makes sense that if you can show a business owner how to implement a strategy, then track the exact ROI on that activity, the numbers will tell the story.

For example..... I have a client that with my help implemented an email "birthday club" about 9 months ago. Easily set up in Aweber. Each birthday club member can get a free 9"" pizza during the month of their birthday. It has worked really well, and they now have about 600 subscribers in the program. Each month about 40-50 people get a coupon emailed to them that they can redeem (dine in only).

I told them that they should track the total amount of sales from the table where each coupon is used, then figure out the net profit that table generated. Over time, they can then come up with an average "profit" from the use of each "free" coupon. Then they could easily project out in the future....X coupons = X $$ in profit.

Of course this is too much trouble for them and they don't do it, but I know they are seeing a huge increase in dine in business because of this program.

Numbers never lie. If I only knew how much my client's exact profit was from my simple Aweber birthday club, I could probably charge 10X what I charge now.
