Helping Offline Clients Get Reviews

What methods are you using to help your local clients get reviews?

I have read lots of theory about what works or doesn't work, etc. I'm looking for real world experience.

Obviously you need to solicit the reviews. Obviously Google makes it harder these days to leave reviews on their site, but it is still important to have review there.

Any real world experience would be appreciated.

Thanks

This topic has been covered time and time again - one of the most popular methods you're going to find is social media encouraging reviews, "Review us on Google" signs on the website and in the place of business, discounts given to reviewers, the list goes on...

Another way I've never seen before would be to collect a list of emails from customers at the business, and send opt-ins a link to leave a review. If they've been kind enough to leave their email, there's a good chance they'll leave a positive review about the business.

Yes Kerbett, it has been covered, but mainly by people peddling their crap.

I am looking for what is actually working for people. I can give all sorts of stuff at try and test this and test that. I'm just looking for something that has actually been tried and works.

You can help your clients by having them give away an incentive in exchange for a review. It does not have to anything fancy. It could be something as simple as a 25% discount coupon.

For an example, if your client is a dry cleaning company have their clientele, sign up to an email list and submit a review in exchange for the coupon. There are many ways to get people to submit a review as people love free stuff. Good luck.

Do you mind sharing what type of business it is that you are trying to achieve this for? This might help with the suggestions.

      2) Personal Injury Attorney
      3) Landscaper

Well since you are looking to have people that have already used this service to write a review, the relationship is already there. I know you are looking for methods people have used in the past that already work, but from years of working in advertising sales, based on the type of businesses (service), I would run a contest for a chance to win something (GC, TV, Event Tickets, etc..). You will be surprised on the results. I have done something similar (not reviews, but email list building) and gained a good amount of responses.

You will need to have your business hand out a flyer, have a draw box, etc... You will need them to sign up to an email list. Once they have been added to the list, send an email asking for a review on Google to be entered. Incentives work like a charm. Hope this helps.
