What would you charge?

Recently I was approached by a company that provides invitations, announcements and stationary about handling there seo once their website launches in the second quarter of 2013. The website is built on magento i guess and is similar to like a shutter fly site. This is obviously not on the local level and would be trying to rank for terms such as "wedding invitations" "birthday invitations" etc.

What woud you charge someone like this? I already quoted the guy, but curious to get others input on it.
#offline marketing #charge
  • It would depend on the competitiveness of their desired keywords and how long it would take me to rank them. Too many variables for me to give an answer.
  • keywords are those of invitations. seem to be fairly competitive. invitations, stationary, and announcements.
  • At least $10k
  • Local marketing, with citations and google + has "seemingly" become easier in the post polar animals era, but "national" or "global" SEO, has become a bit more difficult.

You didn't reveal your level of expertise at SEO at either level, but it's not going to be an easy nut to crack at the wider level.

I would suggest an incremental approach, where you seek to provide a measurable improvement each month or time period, and charge appropriately.

Bear in mind you will be working in both a local enviornment and an international one, and charge relative to your performance.

    Just my $ .02

    Steve
