Content curation question

So, someone (Mr X) takes a blog that's on Mashable, and puts it verbatim on their own blog site, giving a link and full credentials to the source and author.
Is this legal to do? Would Mr X have to get the nod from Mashable/ original author first?

See many people then see this content on MR X's blog pages and wrongly assume and give credit for him writing the piece and having that knowledge when all Mr X has done is copy it , people looking fail to notice the links and credentials and I am sure Mr X (and all others doing this) are well aware of these failings and are happy to let visitors think it's their content and knowledge so they get the (false) kudos .

Pretty sure proper content curation involves reproducing a snippet of the original article, which a little of your own commentary before or after and then a link to the original article for people to read the full story. Again... I'm PRETTY sure this is it. I don't have a lot of experience with content curation.

There's a plugin that makes this easy... G Alert in the WSO section. I purchased it and I'm very happy with how easy it is to use. Does exactly what it says it does.

  • Mr. X should expect a nice call from Mashable's attorneys.
