SEO options for clients?

I highly recommend you take a look at Alex Becker's stuff. Here's his blog: Source Wave : SEO Blog

You'll learn a lot about SEO and that will better arm you for selecting a good outsourcer. I totally agree that the typical link packages are a huge waste of money. I prefer to do everything myself, personally.

Becker also released a WSO not long ago about SEO. I can't recall the name, but if you're truly interested, I'll try and hunt it down for you.

You are absolutely right. SEO is getting more and more difficult these days and Google is making too many restrictions. Chris Munch recently launched a WSO. Kindly check his sales page it might help you.

I am assuming that you are talking about ranking local business websites vs. affiliate or adsense type sites.

We have very good luck using link monster's back link blast here to get clients initially rolling - http://www.warriorforum.com/warriors...variation.html

Then we make sure our clients get thier customers to leave reviews on their social sites like FaceBook and Google Places (G+ Local now) and after about 60 to 90 days of adding content as well, we can usually get them to rank on page #1 and stick.

Back link building should then continue equally each month to appear natural to the Google gods, along with new customer reviews.

DO NOT have these so called review companies to post reviews on your client's behalf. Use an app like review sentry instead. Review Sentry | The Number One White Label Reputation and Review Management Tool

With all the Panda and Penguin havoc over the last year or so, the old packages of mega-backlinks would seem to do more harm than good for a local business.

Exactly, SEO is getting hard and hard these days. Google is making updates almost every day to make sure spammers get penalize to what have they done with the search engine.

Anyone have any good outsourcing venues for those services?

I believe you can go to freelancer.com or odesk.com and look for employees that can help you with all the work needed.
