Making Online Commercials for Clients

So ranking a video is not that difficult. My question is what's the best way to make a video? So say i rank a video, but don't want it to be just another animoto video (because that idea is becoming bloated). Is there a good structure to base my video off of, and maybe i can still create it through animoto, but I want a video I rank to be effective. Not just another text/image based animoto video.

Two niches I plan on ranking in are web design, and stonework. I hope that info helps.

Are you asking how to create an effective message, or what platform to use to create the video?

As far as responsiveness to a video the best structures I've seen are either regular webcam videos if it's for something like a review, or if it's more professionally based a Animoto or other slideshow video can work fine.

What really works well is to couple that with a good professional voice over of a good script. (I typically prefer a female voice over as it seems to work better for me. Men seem to like to deal with women over men, and Women can relate to women better than men so it seems to have more overall favor.) This way, you are engaging more than just the visual sense and the voice with capture more attention which will do better for conversions.

And for optimization, the voice over works out even better because you can just make your transcript keyword rich and do that much better.

yea if you're going for a more youtube audience, the more slick it looks, the less they will trust it. Some of the most powerful viral videos have an "amateur" feel to them, even if they were produced by very proficient creators... make sure to appeal to the "real" factor that is present in viral youtube videos.

While I understand what you are trying to say, there are no hard and fast rules in regards to this. Many corporate style advertisements do very well on Youtube as well.

As for @OP, I would create a video for a specific promotion/product for the business. This would make it easier to rank, and if going the Adwords route you would keep your costs to a minimum while being able to target your audience better.

You can still use PowerPoint (or Keynote) to make a pretty effective video adv, something along the lines of this one I made for a local client >

    Skunkworks: noun. informal.

A clandestine group operating without any external intervention or oversight. Such groups achieve significant breakthroughs rarely discussed in public because they operate "outside the box".

    Have you tried whiteboard animation/videoscribing?

You can see an example on this page:

Sparkol: VideoScribe - Whiteboard Drawing Animation made easy

It's not overused (yet) and appears very slick, not to mention extremely easy to do. No technical know-how or animation skills required.

If you don't want to mess with it there are sellers on Fiverr who will create them for you very cheaply.

After reading your post, I thought it's only a matter of time before someone reads this and sells it as a WSO. Annnnnd... wait for it... shortly after your post... someone did.

Haha, there probably have been lots of WSO's about this topic. It's nothing new or groundbreaking. But it's so simple to use that you definitely don't need a WSO to do it right and do it well.

There is no "best way to make a video". The question you need to answer is, "What am I trying to achieve?" You say you want it to be effective, but effective at what? Informing viewers, entertaining viewers, converting viewers? Getting viewers to call you? Who is your target audience? What do they like to watch?

There are tons of ways to creative videos.
    Animoto
    Kenetic Type
    Testimonial Videos.
    Sales Videos.
    TV commercial style videos.
    Animated videos.

The question is, what is your video supposed do for you or your client?

Agree, a video must convey a clear message to a target audience. That message must get the objective of the client across the viewers. A call to action must be put if necessary. A challenge though, is how to create a short, simple but effective video.

swilliams makes another good point. Make sure your videos are unique in terms of content. I would suggest taking a look around at some other videos that have similar content and think of ways to stand out and grab your audience.

Slideshow videos can still work fine for some niches where images can be an important part of what is being offered. I am looking at video to be my main focus both offline and online for me personally. The types of video I may look to diversify into include areas such as testimonials for offline businesses. The fact that smartphones and tablets have great video cameras now is making this more possible. I am looking to educate myself in using these devices to produce great videos.

Animoto is very effective for the right business. For example I work with lots of contractors and use it in a variety of ways.

    1. Show case work they have done
    2. Show case before and after
    3. Showcase progession of work.

My clients hear comments all the time about how much the people enjoyed the videos. The best part is they take all of about 10 minutes to make.

As far as it being bloated I have yet to see a video in my area for a contractor that uses animoto.

The white board animation videos are pretty cool way to make a commercial. There are also some WSO's out there right now making commercials using puppets.
