A Selling Lesson From My New Vacuum Cleaner

I recently got a new vacuum cleaner & here's the selling lesson ...

My old vacuum cleaner was the 'bag' type.

My new vacuum cleaner is a 'bagless' type ... the type where the stuff that's picked up when vacuuming is in collected in a clear tube shaped chamber that you empty when done.

So, now after I vacuum & when I emply the chamber, I see everything that was collected.

I now say, wow, look at all the dirt that was in my carpet (with my old 'bag' vacuum, I never saw what was picked up).

Lesson - whenever possible demonstrate/show results ... don't just talk about them!

Did you get it from Claude?

And did he muscle you and bang you over the head until you bought?

One other thing my friend. You stated this in your sig:
"If you get to age 35 and your job still involves wearing a name tag, you've probably made a serious vocational error."

Please don't say that to anyone who chose to be in the military. They might get offended.

Yesterday, my toaster taught me a very valuable marketing lesson. Don't stick a fork in the toaster.

To the OP. I see the lesson, I just couldn't help myself. Yes, demonstrating is one of the top marketing essentials out there.

And THAT is why you have to paint the picture ... the entire picture when doing phone sales.

If you don't, you have NO demonstration. Only a jumble of words that lead nowhere fast

Ken, you are probably one of the few here who really gets it. And I for one, am truly grateful for all of your posts and helpful info.

            Thanks again.

PS - Claude you are in the top 1.5 Seriously dude, along with Ken and a few others I admire, you are the real deal. I've been around where you've been at one time (small, but one time) and I get your vibe.
            Always great posts, my friend.

And if it gets said to Store Managers and above at places like Walmart it will be very wrong.

Of course it is a Dennis Miller quote (had to google it).
