Check Out This Offline Business

Hi

Saw a reference to this offline business on Tim Ferris's site.

Check it out

Alaska Travel Deals | FAQ | TourSaver®

They've sold 30,000 books at $99. Which is close to 3 mil of revenue.

Now, I can understand why someone would buy the book, heaps of value.

What I'm unsure of is how to sell it to a restaurant or a tour operator or a B&B. What's in it for them? Giving away 2 for 1 meal, tour or a room at half price when in all likelihood, the tourist will use their services once only?

Any thoughts on the above?

Cheers

Because they are not worried about repeat. The value is in the fact of locking these customers in when they come vs. losing them to the competitors. Plus since they focus on tourists their pricing is built to handle such discounts.

When you are in a tourist location you have to earn new business every day. With these books they get a certain number of set and forget customers to come in on a regular basis.
